  1. Bingo. He shot something like 30% on open/wide open looks in the playoffs last year.

    Dude's washed.

    Here’s what I’m not getting.

Last year Melo shot 5 catch and shoot 3’s at 37%.

That’s the most catch and shoot 3’s he has ever averaged. League high last year was 6.4. Klay, the best in the league, shot 5.8 @ 44%.

So let’s say that Melo averages 6 per game next year. Let’s say he shoots it a little better. For instance, let’s say he shoots it at 39%. Which seems reasonable. And would put him at the top of nba catch and shoot 3 guys.

You know who shot 6 catch and shoot 3’s at 39% last year? Trevor Ariza. You know who is miles better defensively than Melo? Trevor Ariza.

How is keeping Ariza’s catch and shoot production while massively downgrading at defense gonna make your team better against the Warriors?

  3. The whole league is gonna get slapped by Golden State so all of these moves are just...there

  6. Watching Utah embarrass OKC and Houston choke just makes next year's playoff inevitability so much sweeter that we can combine the two! It's all we really have to look forward to.

  8. We also have Bill Simmons false hope to look forward to when Boston comes out of the east.

Melo couldn’t see the floor in crunch time against the Jazz.

And Ariza is gonna be at home watching the platoffs from the couch.

If I were a Rox fan, I’d be pretty pissed at how this offseason turned out.

But hey, at least your owners luxury tax bill is manageable.

  10. I predict locker room drama in Boston to be next level.

  11. Ariza is gonna really help the young guys in Phoenix though. That should be fun

I’m perfectly okay with how this off-season turned out when Morey gets another wing and everyone knows we will get another one.

I’m glad we didn’t pay Ariza 15 million, Luc was gonna get his money and deal if he waited apparently but he signed quickly. We got Clint locked up. Can’t complain much.

What makes you think they’ll have it in Boston?

If they didn’t sign Ennis I’d be concerned

If they lost Capela I’d be pissed

  16. Too many players are going to want to start. Too many think they should be playing crunch time.

I don’t really understand why though? His signing wouldn’t have prevented you from getting Ennis, re-signed Capella, etc.

And Ariza + Ennis is unquestionably a better playoff combination than Melo + Ennis.

The only cost associated with signing Ariza is luxury tax. But that’s your owners problem.

Agreed. Gonna be interesting how they manage all that

He’s 33, wanted a multi year deal from us at 15-16 per year and I don’t think Morey wanted to do that and have us tied up with that.

That would be such a gross contract for Ariza

  23. Over/under is 30 games before I get to quote all of these posts again.

Ok. But he signed for one year 15 million. Are you saying you are glad the Rox didn’t sign him at that price?

And besides you signed a 34 year old Melo. You signed old man CP 3 to a four year deal. So why balk at the extremely useful Ariza?

Yes, at that price. Would’ve loved him back at the right price but 15 mil for him is just too much imo especially on a multi year deal. He’s been clutch for us, great locker room guy but sometimes you just let them go.
