Raptors fans still love Demar. The players and management still love Demar. He signed on long term. That trade was a hard one for people to digest, but it ended the way it was intended with a title. Demar, and the guys traded to Memphis to a lesser extent, Dwayne Casey, and everyone really involved have been given credit publicly by the current roster and management.

This teams success has been developed over time, but quicker than planned. This level of success, although desired, never seemed possible.

They should also give a little thank you to Lebrun for finally being out of the east.

Demar will probably have his number retired with the Raptors when his career is over. Lowry too.

Also, everyone want Kawhi to stay in Toronto, but have accepted all year he’s probably a 1 and done. He has the right as a free agent to look and decide. Toronto fans are just hoping he re-ups for even a year or two (or a year with an option). I’d be great if they could defend their title, but people know that the “their title” is already a huge achievement.

I genuinely hope that everyone in this thread who hasn't seem their team win it all gets that opportunity. It feels amazing. I'm still riding high.

 

I remember when the schedule was announced Raptors players like Lowry were annoyed that didn’t get a Christmas Day feature game. They felt ignored by the league. Well, they made sure to get the league and NBA fans attention.

You’re absolutely right about how nice it is to have your team finally win. It was great to see Portland and Milwaukee in the mix this year too.

 

Jimmy just wants the bag, man. Can't blame him for that.

some fun facts about the Raptors history:

* this year was only their 11th winning season (11 of 24) - 6th winning season in a row (so they had only 5 winning seasons in their first 18 seasons). each winning season has them in the playoffs (so 11 out of 24 years)

* regular season win % of 47% (including this year)

* playoff win % of 45% (including this year)

* they had 18 TOTAL playoff wins before this year (16 of course). minus the 10 they won in the 2015 season when they got to the ECF and that realization is even crazier

 

Saw where Kendrick Perkins said Lowry is the greatest Raptor of all time and I think I agree.

 

I've seen a lot of people shooting hoops around town today. There was a couple kids in the park by my house and one of them was wearing a Kawhi jersey. I live in a small university town in Alberta, thousands of kilometres away.

Canada is really feeling this win.
