I feel seriously bad for Caps fans

Crosby is unreal. And Guentzel is the real deal.

 

I'm just saying that a team with two #1 centers in the NHL is in a better position than most to miss out on the first pick overall.

Would they rather have the first pick, seeing as it would give them more and better options? Yes. All teams not named NJD would prefer a higher draft pick.

Was just saying that a team looking at D won't see losing out on the #1 OA pick as the end of the world.

Thought it was assumed that winning the lottery is the best outcome for every team in the running.

I still agree with Robbie. I don't think the #1 pick is considered notably more valuable than the #4 pick this year. Anyone they could trade the #1 pick for may still be on the table for #4.

Besides, in the event no trade takes place, picking #4 might be better for the Avs anyway, lest they fall into the same trap the Oilers did from 2010-2012, consistently being seduced by the consensus #1 and repeatedly failing to address their actual needs.

My whole point has been that Colorado was in a better position to lose out on the first overall pick, if it had to happen to anyone. You went after me because you thought I made it seem like they would prefer picking 4th to picking 1st. Just because the Rangers are down a pair of games now doesn't give you an excuse to be a fucking asshole. Literally all I was saying that this isn't the end of the world for the Avs. You can politely fuck off now.

 

Sakic should be looking at it and saying oh well, this forces our hand to bring in a D that can step in and improve our back 6 immediately. Anyway, probably best to keep draft and offseason move stuff to the other thread, no?

2... your "if it had to happen" line is much different than "no need for #1 OA".

 

I've seen both of them ranked outside the top 2. Not with any regularity of course, but there is no full consensus on the top 2 picks.
