The game desperately needs people like Subban. I've always enjoyed the fact that hockey isn't superstar oriented like basketball, but it really needs some personality.

The only time personality was celebrated in the NHL this year was Wes McCaluey announcing a fighting penalty, so yeah the NHL absolutely needs more characters.

Yeah it does but too bad they don't actually give a fuck about those people. I know people will roll their eyes but watching Crosby getting fucked up left and right last game and no calls is ridiculous. Crosby should stop doing any favors for the NHL. If you aren't going to protect your stars but still try and promote them then fuck that. NHL player
Safety is a joke and by not suspending people so they don't "affect the outcome of the game" they end up doing just that will the injures that occur. And yeah whatever I'm salty but fuck the NHL. Garbage league. That's why they'll always be the 4th major sport in America.

    Anderson vs Fleury.

Pittsburgh did a dumb thing by playing Matt Murray. Was Fleury injured or something?

Fleury had what, one mediocre period in which his defense did nothing to help him out?

Hope the sens score in the first minute then play defense the rest of the way just to upset everyone.

I do think the NHL needs some cleaning up as far as officiating goes. It's very well known that refs back off during the playoffs and there's a disparity between what's called in the season and what's called in the playoffs. Refs say "the players are getting smarter and not taking as many penalties", but everyone knows that refs tend to swallow the whistle.

Also the department of players safety really has taken a holiday, this playoffs it seems. Obviously I have a strong opinion because of who I support, but honestly the hits to the head have to stop. No matter what the position of the person who received the hit was in. If they really want to get rid of it then they will penalize/fine/suspend any hits to the head, no questions asked. Granted some guys may try to buy calls, but that always happens. The NHL needs to make players think twice before entering into a dangerous hit situation. Intent cannot matter.

Alright, I'll put the soap box away, now.

Go Pens. Hopefully Rusty can continue to live up to his game 7 prowess and Geno's prophetic statement comes true.

I'm off work tomorrow and so I plan on getting hammered with either result tonight. Most likely shithoused if the pens go back to the finals. haha

My brother and I have spirited debates about the ethics (or possible lack thereof) of how the games are called. My brother is as far down the rabbit hole of cynicism as one can go. He thinks the NHL actively influences games to make the series go to 6 or 7 games. I'm tempted to buy that sometimes, honestly just because of the monetary gains they get, but call me idealistic or naive, but I don't think I buy it...
