Any Padres fans in here? I decided that they're going to be the NL team that I'll follow this year.

As a long time yankee fan, I am actually excited for this season. It's much easier to root for young guys to play around .500 than the corpses of former greats we've been trotting out the last few years.

Congratulations! they'll have a good rebuild in 5 years and it will actually be fun. For now you'll have to deal with almost making the playoffs and failing every year but at least they aren't the padres.

I hope they make it but I feel like they'll get swept if they make it past the wc round. Maybe it'll be a weird lopsided year, who knows

  10. I want them to trade for another starting pitcher. I'm not completely convinced of the current rotation. The team seems to be big on Smyly this year though.

I feel like this is the last year the Tigers have any chance of competing for a while.

Same. Plus Holliday has looked good. Sanchez, Bird, Holliday and Judge if they eventually move him up there could be a fun middle of the lineup. Mitchell and Severino are throwing pretty good too.

I'm not as sold on the rotation right now. Nobody is really separating themselves for the 4th and 5th spots. If Montgomery has two more nice games I think he could win a spot.

Cessa was bad last game. Not that the top guys have been lights out like Tanaka but it's clearly between Severino, Mitchell and Montgomery to me.

Rangers on the extension kick lately.

Discussing I've with Mazara. Tabled talks with Lucroy for now, and getting close to finalizing Roogie

Makes sense to avoid some arb years with young players if you can.

Oh yeah, I know most teams do it this time of year. Just glad to see varying degrees of success

Absolutely. Even for Lucroy, if you don't secure the deal now it's not a big deal. Establishing open lines of communication and negotiations is key.

I could see him getting a 5 or 6 year deal in FA so agreeing to something earlier would likely need to be in that range at like 90-100MM I'd imagine

I really hope the Braves win more than 68 games. It's the 3rd year of the rebuild and they need to get their shit together.

Random realization yesterday while talking to a friend:

We all know Clayton Kershaw is the best pitcher in baseball, but this year his streak of league dominance is going into its ninth season. It's been such a joy to watch his career but I hadn't realized how many years in a row he's actually dominated. So many of the top pitchers in the game have elbow problems or consistency issues, but he's been a chugging right along.
