I did like it quite a bit when it dropped but it faded out of my mind so quickly. I'm hoping that when the weather turns it might stick with me a bit more. This is insane
seems as tho this whole thread forgot jake jenkins put out an ep this year. its cool im fine dont worry about it
(obviously kidding about the objective remark) I really don't think Rented World holds up at all outside of its top songs. ATP has maybe three weak songs and they're still much better than the likes of Bad Things, The Talk, etc... ATP feels like a true follow up to OTIP. Might even be better overall. It's surely more confident sounding than anything they've done.
I agree. I like Alkaline Trio. That's why I said -lite. Alkaline Trio is good. Bad Alkaline Trio is not.
So can i. we seem to be at an impasse here especially since you didn't acknowledge that "basic" comment. The song is simplistic (the chorus painfully so) but I was moreso playing off the Alkaline thing. Joke before reason, always.
At this point I think I like ATP even more than OTIP. Although it's probably close. Rented World is fantastic but I don't like it as much as either of the albums surrounding it.
I feel like my ambivalence towards their new album is pretty circumstantial. The content and tone doesn't really stick with where I am anymore whereas the other two were definitely a perfect fit for those periods of my life.
