I doubt the Grammy voters even listen to music anymore on a regular basis. Probably get together once a year and go "alright, let's listen to one song off an album and give this thing a shot" while drinking scotch or whatever 70 year old white dudes drink

Can't remember the last time I was so uninvested in Grammy album of the year. Blonde was the true AOTY imo

 

I fell for the Kanye surprise performance. Should've known better.

 

Clearly they don't give a fuck about music or its cultural impact, but I thought they might care when an artist closes the show out by basically calling their bullshit.

Also lets call a spade a spade. The Grammys are racist af. 1989 and 25 winning totally makes sense in a world where black artists and listeners don't exist, which is clearly the world the Grammys want to live in

Do Grammy voters even listen to the full albums of the nominees multiple times? Or are they just like "oh yeah Adele, she's got a good voice and I like her" and cast their vote?

 

Its a bullshit institution full of boring old white people who voted for a boring white album

 

i checked them out after i heard the very small clip they played of their music for the nominations...it seemed very much something i would like with the ambient sound. i like it a lot. gonna give it more of my time soon.

 

They straight refuse to give AOTY to black artists, don't they? Holy shit


That aside, I thought this was worth watching for the ATCQ performance alone. Holy shit, that was incredible. Q-Tip has been the coolest person in music for over 20 years now

Chance winning a ton was awesome too as well as his performance. I've been listening to him since the very beginning so his rise has been so surreal. I'm not a fan of when he becomes Chance the Preacher but I'm still so happy for him.

Also Weeknd/Daft Punk was fucking awesome and will not get talked about as much as it deserves

 

I didn't remember 1989 beating Kendrick, but I certainly remember Macklemore beating him for best rap album

 

If I were a celeb I would never go to awards shows. It's always gonna be fucked up.
