The Good Place at number one!

 

10/20 of the list are among my favorite series this year, i'm very happy

legion at 4! glow included! CEG is way too low but at least it's there! review!

 

Am I wrong in thinking that Nathan For You is a huge omission from all of these lists?

 

No, this season wasn't like a big step down from the others or anything

 

no Nathan for You = terrible list

 

That A.V. Club list is very, very good but I have to agree, the total lack of Nathan almost invalidates it.

Also, I adore The Good Place with all my heart but Twin Peaks was the best forkin thing on television this year, bar none.

 

It's not just the AV list. I've yet to see a list with NFY on it.

The Nathan finale is the best piece of television I've seen in years. The rest of the season (even without the finale) was still miles above any other comedy on TV.

 

In terms of a pure head-to-head comedy matchup, I'd have to probably give it to The Good Place. But NFY is definitely in the top 10 shows of the year, if not the top 5.

I watch a lot of tv and forgot it. Also I did this at work. Ya got me though, I feel pretty stupid right now.

 

I was just joking around, only noticed because I read 'em back to back

 

No but you're right! I don't know how I could've been so absent-minded to just forget it like that when I was just talking about it. It's been a long day.

 

I like this list, though I haven't seen everything on it.

I always use Film Comment's list as a way to catch up on a year, but they are really out there calling Good Time the best film of the year. Phantom Thread needs to rescue what has been such a mediocre year.

AV Club's best movies of '17

Surprised they had Dunkirk so high, figured if it was on their last at all it would be lower. Cool to see though, it was great.

 

Unless I see some truly repugnant stuff I am going to have to put one of my favorite filmmakers on my Top Five Worst Films of 2017. There are still a few days left, though. My top ten is getting stronger, as there have been so many good small films available that were released in the United States this year.

 

Yet to see a few big films from this year (Paddington 2, The Last Jedi etc.) but this is my Top 20 films of the year and overall it has been a brilliant year while all but one of the films listed being seen at the cinema.
