Yeah, even though I wanted to fill out the safety position, I could not pass on Njoku. I like the idea of Coleman and Pryor outside with Barnidge and Njoku inside. Add in Duke and Crow, and I think you can do some interesting things. Still need to find a way to upgrade QB though haha.
34. San Francisco 49ers select Christian McCaffrey, RB, Stanford 49ers need weapons on the offensive side of the ball and McCaffrey gives Shanahan a nice combo between him and Hyde that can resemble the Freeman-Coleman one he had in Atlanta. @CarpetElf Jags
35. Jacksonville Jaguars select Teez Tabor, CB, Florida It pains me to skip on offensive line but Tabor falling this far is too good to pass up. The Jaguars secondary needs a lot of help. Ramsey is due for a Marcus Peters level awakening this year but he can't do it all on his own. Adding another shutdown corner in Tabor to go along with the Adams would make this secondary the most dangerous in the AFC South, which is important when going up against the likes of Luck and Mariota.
I was really close to taking McCaffrey for the Packers but Cunningham was too difficult to pass on. That's a good pick.
Los Angeles Rams select Forrest Lamp OL, Western Kentucky It would not be an overreaction at all to have Les Snead killed on the spot for taking anything but an offensive lineman here. Lamp is a great prospect and could light the way for Todd Gurley, who struggled last year. Goff would be given more time in the pocket and a better opportunity to succeed and see the Forrest for the trees. You've got perhaps the largest amount of young, untapped potential at QB and RB; anything but focusing on supporting them is a mistake. Lamp is a versatile lineman, capable of playing both tackle and guard, though he seems more suited for the latter in the NFL, at least at first.
37. The LA Chargers select : Curtis Samuel, WR, Ohio State. This team has the makings of an explosive offense. Adding another WR is huge especially with Allens injury issues.
The New York Jets select: Tre'Davious White - Cornerback - LSU Sticking with my BPA strategy and it happens to be another defensive back. White excels in man-to-man coverage and should immediately compete for a #2 CB spot in a rebuilt NYJ secondary.
Great pick. I love White and wanted to pick him but I don't see Marrone taking two LSU DBs. Which, historically speaking, would be a mistake. It's like going "nah, I don't need a receiver from Clemson" or "he went to USC? that's the guy I want under center!"
Carolina Panthers select Cooper Kupp, WR, Eastern Washington I tried talking myself out of this pick but the more I watch and read about Kupp the more I'm convinced he is one of the best players in this draft. He absolutely dominated in all four-years of his college career, finishing #1 all-time (both FCS and FBS) in all three receiving categories with 428 rec, 6,464 yards, and 73 TDs. He will get knocked for facing inferior competition however in four games against PAC-12 teams Kupp racked up 40 rec, 716 yards, 8 TDs. One of those games was against Oregon who isn't necessarily known for a strong defense, but if you need any convincing of Kupp's talents go watch that game. Overall, I don't see much of a weakness in his game. Sure, there are things he could improve on but I wouldn't call any of those things a weakness. He creates separation with his impressive route-running skills (he has shown he can run every route on the tree). He rarely drops the ball, even on bad throws. He can make the circus catches look easy. His ability to make plays after the catch reminds me of Steve Smith (including a mean stiff arm). People will say he lacks speed but watching him run through and away from defenses tells me otherwise. And while a good portion of his routes were quick slants, screens or swallow routes he consistently makes plays at all three levels of the defense. Kupp dominated Senior Bowl practices and has been getting more hype recently. If he has a good combine he could sneak into the first round. The Panthers need a reliable pass-catcher. All of the current receivers are plagued with drops and poor route-running.
The moment I saw Kupp take a bubble screen 60+ yard to the house against Oregon, I knew he was for real. He might end up being a star in the NFL.
I could take a bubble screen 60 yards against Oregon lol I do agree he's super good though. Wr will be sketchy after the first 3 go off the board, maybe someone trades back into the 1st.
