The whole lack of strength training should be a positive for Mittelstadt imo. He was a really productive kid in his high school age w/o really any of that side of things. Going to a college strength program where he can be molded properly, to me is better than a kid that is already closer to his potential.

Rasmussen had a grand total of 3 even strength primary assists this year

He was a guy I was hoping we'd stay away from when I thought the Devils were going to be in the 5-10 range

 

At least liljegren didn't really go in the top 6

 

I am worried about his even strength talent. I'm hoping it'll improve. He's a big bodied defensive center, and also a right handed shot. Hope it works out but at this point I'm ready for the worst and expected this

 

Tippett is a ginger galore. Wow

 

Also actually surprised villardi hasn't been picked in the top 10

 

A lot of VO2 max is genetic though. Having the lowest of all people measured is a bad sign, even if he hadn't done much training yet

 

Tippett's highlight film looks really, really good. I'm impressed

 

Owen Tippet is going to be a bust. Every scouting report on him looked bad

The Owen Sound Tippets sounds like a WHL team

 

I saw Tippett a lot this year since he plays on the same team as McLeod

he is a pure goal scorer. but he doesnt jump out in any other way other than that. not the best skater either.

 

To add to that Tippet bust spec, here are eight scouts thoughts:

• “I hate to call anyone a bust but Owen Tippett could fill that description unless he figures things out mentally.”
• “Tied for two in my books — [Sarnia centre] Adam Ruzicka and [Hamilton left-winger] Matt Strome.”
• “[Russian foward] Klim Kostin or [Swedish forward] Kristian Vesalainen.”
• “This is difficult to tell. Nolan Patrick maybe because he might be injury-prone, maybe [defenceman] Cale Makar because he comes from a league [Alberta Junior Hockey League] which makes him a bit difficult to judge. I'm very high on Makar, but maybe [Tri-City centre] Michael Rasmussen.

Strong agree

 

I only really know VO2 Max as it pertains to distance running, but a big part of that number and what it represents is your diet and how efficiently your body can process the oxygen it takes in. Just because you have the ability to take in a lot of oxygen doesn't mean you are good after that. Your body has to be able to process it. Yes, there is an element of genetics, but a bad test number in VO2 max would make total sense for someone who sounds like they haven't been in a strength/core program or an endurance program. Simply put, the better shape you are and the better trained you are, the better that figure should be. And someone like him that is pretty green, you could expect more improvement there than say someone who has seen their overall shape plateau.
