I believe so, yes.

nope, almost positive that they HAVE to pick someone from each team.

 

The players getting picked have to go play in Vegas, am I wrong? They shouldn't have to pay for housing when they're being forced to play there against their will and because the NHL needs some more cash

 

Rules for 2017 Expansion Draft

The Las Vegas franchise must select one player from each presently existing club for a total of 30 players (not including additional players who may be acquired as the result of violations of the Expansion Draft rules).

 

I think they get about 10 grand and also have their moving costs covered. Which is a better deal than players who get traded normally who get nothing.

13.7 Expansion Draft, Team Relocation. Any Player forced to move as a result of being claimed in an expansion draft, or as a result of a team relocation, shall be paid $6,000. (This payment shall not affect or be credited against "moving expenses" to which the Player might otherwise be entitled).

And per Article 14, each player is reimbursed up to $4,200 per month for rent or mortgage for 6 months.

 

yes, sometimes players are traded "against their will". thats sports.

That last bit about Article 14 is actually for all transferred player so when a player is traded, the new team is on the hook for their rent/mortgage for up to 6 months.

 

What do the fans get when some of our favorite players are taken.
