i don't think svechnikov is very good. he has not played well in detroit so far, albeit in a really small sample size. he wasn't even playing that well in GR, not really sure why he gets the priority to be called up aside from the fact that he is a 1st round pick. also think it's stupid to call him up and say he's going to end the year in detroit, only to give him 7 minutes a night.

it's also kind of telling, the difference in the GR championship club back in like 2013, vs the team right now... back then they won with guys like nyquist, tatar, sheahan, jurco, glendening, ferraro, dekeyser... now the team's 5 best scorers are pure AHLers. that doesn't really bode well for the prospects...

Has there been ever another blunder like last year where the top 3 teams picking ended up in the playoff the following season? Can't remember another time that happened, thanks for nothing Gary

Talk to me again when you whine through a whole 2yr rebuild

Canucks are almost as bad as the Habs at going for a rebuild. Curse of Canadian franchises I guess.

yeah, the scary thing is he was probably the best forward prospect to bring up actually since we are so dry on good ones (a case could be made for Puempel who is having a great year in the AHL)

With a guy like Puempel, he’s not undersized really, he’s a former 1st round pick that scored 30 goals his first AHL season. I feel like he is the type of guy that could have worked out at the NHL level (or still could) if he was in the right situation. I feel bad for some of these AHL vets sometimes because I always feel like most of them, aside from the 5’9” guys could have made it work in the right situation.

Idk I was pretty whiny for a good two years when Donny nuked years of Bergeron's prime by trading away a #1 dman so he could take a 3rd rounder with the 15th overall pick

So the Leafs called up Andreas Johnsson today! Just to see what they have before playoffs. He's supposed to play vs Dallas on Kapanen's line. I'm...pretty excited about that. Also called up Rosen on an emergency basis because Dermie and Zaits are both sick and they're not sure yet if either of them will play tomorrow.

Also I just thought this Babs quote on the Stars was funny:

God bless Kristen. She's my favorite Leafs reporter.

I feel like we're definitely gonna end up overpaying for Matthews who I'm terrified is gonna be injured for the rest of his career now.

After McDavid, I'm kind of worried about that too - I love Auston but paying one player like that makes it hard to pay your secondary guys. Especially when you have so many, like the Leafs. I'm not...super worried about him being injured a lot, although the thought does haunt me sometimes. I think, to be honest, that he never got over the first time fully - and then you have players trying to take him out constantly since he's Auston Freaking Matthews, which doesn't help him stay well.

I'm not overly concerned with his future salary in itself; he won't be getting 12.5, and neither Nylander or Marner will be getting close to 8.5. Plus with the cap consistently rising, I think we'll be okay in that department.

Holy hell, the Preds are pulverizing the Jets right now.

3-0 (two short-handed) with 20 SOG in the first 11 minutes. Wow.

If Carolina loses tonight I blame myself. They were up 4-1 and when I turned it on they gave up 3 goals in less than 2 minutes

The Stars are going to play their way right out of a playoff spot, aren't they...........

I really hate to see them miss with the season they've had, especially compared to last year. And honestly? I hate that I'm a little bit surprised they're totally Stars'ing themselves. Hoping they can turn it around/hang on for dear life here in the last stretch.

Either way I guess it's better than being mathematically eliminated like weeks before the playoffs even start.
