Dear fans of Eastern Conference wildcard teams,

Don’t be worried if Carolina wins a good bit of their games from here on out. Ever since 2010, the’ve have mastered the art of just narrowly missing out. What the franchise has most coveted ever since winning it all in 06, is that sweet 14th pick in the first round. Even if it comes down to the last day, especially if it comes down to the last day, I can assure you Carolina will be on the outside looking in.

Nothing says “not consistently good enough to make the playoffs” and simultaneously “too good to be considered a lottery team” like the Carolina Hurricanes.

When you ride Cam Ward for a decade, this is literally what will happen for your team. It doesn't help that every goalie they acquire ends up being mediocre for them as well. I realize that's not the entire problem there, but they seem to love mediocrity in net.

 

Cam is a good goaltender, a great one even. 70 starts every year will take it’s toll on anyone, let alone having to play 80% of your games as a Hurricane in front of an AHL defense.

 

Seattle 12’s has a nice ring to it.their logo could be a giant decibel chart.

You may be able to prove me wrong, but I’m willing to bet that he is a pretty mediocre goaltender. My thought is... there’s a reason the Canes have gone out to get Khudobin, Lack, Darling. Maybe you’re right, the team defense is trash and Ward is the MVP, but the stats don’t really Back it up as far as I’ve seen?

I did get the deal and some random Blue Jackets fans also came in for the deal so nice.

 

Ward is a bad goalie. He is only capable of playing well for one month or two and has had only one good season since 2009. Carolina needs literally average goaltending and he can never give it to him.

I've already given up on the Flames - Rangers game to watch basketball instead. The Raptors don't make me sad and it helps that they have good coaches that actually adjusted when their systems couldn't get things done. Gulutzan should take notes. Beyond the first and second line and first defensive line, the Flames can't do shit.
