After watching Matt Barzal grow in the WHL here in Seattle for the past handful of years, I just kept coming back around to how in the hell he fell as far as he did. I know this was a loaded class but man, he's just so god damn good.

I can only imagine how good he would look centering Voracek/Konecny. Of course the Flyers ended up with Provy in this draft so I can't whine too much.

 

I think that there were injury concerns as well as attitude concerns surrounding him leading up to the draft

but yeah, he is looking quite good. I have to read about Devils fans "WE SHOULD HAVE PICKED BARZAL OVER ZACHA!!!" every other day and it annoys me

 

Yeah, I know he had some concerns about his knee coming out but man, every time I saw him play live, I was just amazed at his skill. I never did read anything about an attitude issue though so that explains a little bit. I have some friends that I go to the games with once in a while who know his billet family here and they had nothing but good things to say about him.

I'm glad Zacha is rounding into form. Obviously never going to be an elite talent like a lot of people in that draft but that's fine. We've made other great picks the last few years. He seems like he will be a steady, productive player for us.

 

guys I don't know shit about hockey but I will 100% be jumping on the Seattle bandwagon. Where does that land me in terms of how NHL fans will regard me? As an ignorant moron? As an off-season Seahawk fan (I hate the Seahawks)? As a poser? Find your opinions, and tell them to me.

I personally love how he's been playing. Getting Nico has really taken the pressure off of him to have to be a #1 center.

Read a stat today that he has been on the ice for 66 minutes shorthanded. The Devils have only been outscored 3-2 in that span. That's insane.

Likely a long shot but anyone going to the Ducks vs Preds game next Thursday? Likely making the two hour trek down south to catch what will likely be the only game I can make to see the Ducks this year. Should be a... fun environment.

 

I don't think i am going to go to a Sharks game this year because I got a bunch of other cool stuff planned.
