Patiently awaiting if there is a real boneheaded move he made in protecting/not protecting a player. I feeI I know pretty much exactly what the list is though, with Abby being 7th F and DDK on D as it sounds like XO is out. I could live with that even if it's not my ideal list.

 

Why couldn't Kenny throw in a pick or something (Little Caesars™ for life) for LV to take Jonathan Ericsson?

 

I don't know if I just don't pay attention to the Red Wings or maybe is new on the radar because i've never heard of that dude before.

I've seen some people hype him up and others who are super eh on him.

 

Ouellet? 16-17 was his first full year for the Wings. I wouldn't personally hype him up a lot or have anything too bad to say about him, but found him to be pretty consistently solid. Something big needs to happen on D for us though.

 

He'll end up being taken and becoming great, as is tradition with Wings prospects that leave

 

I doubt more than 1 or 2 bigger trades happen after the freeze ends. I read that if marchessault is really available, yzerman would want him back. I feel like they may trade one of their high picks for someone, might just end up happening early on draft day. I think callan foote is their destiny if they don't trade it but who knows.

Interesting, so a team loses a player and if a team likes that player they can try to deal with Vegas for them instead. I would imagine a player has to get sent back though, right? Even if it's someone not good, to balance it out plus the picks.

 

If I understand it correctly, Vegas could tell Anaheim they are "taking" Vatanen and then opening a bidding war seeing what the other 29 teams will pay, then go back to Anaheim and say "we can get X, Y and Z" for Vatanen, do you want to match for us to not take him

 

I think that GM's collectively decided that's how they were going to get the best prices for known available assets. Everything before the freeze yesterday would have been measured and cautious card playing so to speak.

 

Yea, they could do that but they can also draft them and then turn around trade them if they like a deal for that player. They're probably taking offers for who teams think is unprotected right now. It all doesn't get announced till Wednesday though so we won't know till then. There's a chance they have to start random rookies if they make all these deals mostly for picks. Hope we get leaks.
