the roster/farm system that Lou left them with was horrific. Shero has done a great job of collecting young forwards but the D still needs help. These things take time. I was hoping that they could maybe be in the playoff hunt this year, but without Zajac thats going to be very difficult

I still don't think they'll be thattt bad this year, I don't think they'll get a top 5 pick again.

 

I mean, ya. I think theyre at the point where they are going to have to put together a nice package to trade for a young DMan, plus the 2018 draft is loaded with D prospects

 

Yea, you'd think they would put a trade or two in play to push the team forward. I miss the old devils rangers rivalry, although the devils owned them for like a decade lol

 

Yeah, Lou left that team a wasteland. Botched so many drafts and kept building 9th place teams.

 

Another year of losing won't be that bad, especially considering the 2018 draft is loaded with high end D prospects.

I'm still excited to see how all the young forwards come together. Just sucks that they won't have Zajac to throw out against other team's top lines. I guess thats going to be Henrique at this point and I don't like that at all. Hopefully Zacha elevates his game this year.

 

I'm starting to finally think about hockey and I don't even know what the expectations for the sharks should be.

I don't see them being a SC contender but I also don't see them as being a dumpster fire.

read some speculation that the wings aren't totally out of the race to get Tavares next year (lolol), but boy am I gonna be heartbroken when he inevitably resigns for 8 years with NYI

I don't think anyone is out on Tavares, I think he wants to stay but that situation is pretty yikes

 

depends who we can get rid of and how much Larkin and Mantha are gonna want. I imagine Green will be gone probably at the trade deadline (that's $6M off the books). Talk of getting rid of Sheahan and Mrazek and Helm through trades or buyouts. I can't imagine Kronwall not being on LTIR much longer either. I reeeeeally hope they give Mrazek another big shot this year though, I'm not too confident in Coreau.

 

I really like Coreau and think he's solid, maybe not #1 starter, but possibly. He was fun to watch a couple times in college when he played against MSU.

It definitely could work, I'm just skeptical. Especially with Holland still running the sure.

 

I can only hope JT's friendship/on ice chemistry with Nielsen, a new arena, and him getting to be the 1C/face of the franchise for an original 6 team could help out nevermind the fact that we are "rebuilding on the fly"
