The positive of ARZ not going for Nelson is that he probably will end up coaching the Red Wings sometime over the next two years! Of course, that also means he will once again be the coach of a terrible roster. I hope he ends up catching on somewhere that will actually have a serviceable roster, he's a good coach.

I don't think he's going to last much longer in the NHL, but I think this is as good a chance as any for him to get consistent playing time. Hopefully they can utilize him on the PP, his shot is lethal. It's just unfortunate that his skating never really got to where it needed to be.

Hey @cubsml34 what's your opinion of Rasmussen? Lindholm and Vatanen will be making shoulder recoveries so I'm sure he'll see the lineup.

I mean Rasmussen is a center so he won't be competing with the D for playing time lol. I liked Ras but he has a ceiling as a 4th line player at best I believe. Decent physicality, not bad defensively, lacking offensively. He's 27 though so I don't really think he has all that much room to improve.

Oh shit I'm thinking of someone else from the Hawks. The really tall depth defenseman. What's his name?

Svedberg or Pokka is who you're probably thinking of. Svedberg is the really tall one but is bad. Pokka is slightly less tall and less bad but still hasn't been good enough to crack the roster.

I hate that this thread will be dead for two months. Once Jagr signs anyway

  17. Let's see if we can bridge the gap.

Who will be worse next year... Vegas or Colorado?

I'm not sure how Vegas is going to score...their Center depth is terrible (to be expected)

Colorado was historically bad last year and I dont think they really did much to improve. I will say that Vegas is better.

Vegas will definitely be better. No one as good as Mackinnon/Duchene/Lando, but more consistency throughout

Colorado will be even worse when Duchene is traded

I give avalanche around 60 points spread. I can't imagine them being worse than last year.

I also give the Vegas knights around a 70 point spread.

It'll be close I think. I'll say Vegas.

Varlamov can string together some wins. Vegas is a middle of the pack ahl team.

Yeah, I'm not sure how Vegas puts together any wins unless Fleury stands on his head. That defense might not be too bad if Theodore/Schmidt are their main guys & they're as good as advertised, but I don't know how they're going to score any goals. Shipachyov probably the x-factor.
