Man, that makes the fact that he has the most catches to start a career in history even more impressive.

    Also fuck him.

    Jags 3-0** Prestigious

Fred Taylor & Jimmy Smith are gonna get snubbed so hard for HOF even though they were as good as most the RB / WR in it, respectively. As in, I doubt they even make it in, even getting on the ballot will be a battle.

I already know they’ll get no respect

It's astounding how you can say either will be snubbed with Boselli still not in.

Landry was 7th in the league in 1st downs last year, though

Also, I don't know how you can say this at all because it's absurd hahaha. Terrell Owens and Randy Moss aren't in.

Boselli had 5 years of being one of the best Left Tackles of all time. But it was only 5 years. Injuries ruined it for him. He could have been another Bruce Matthews easily.

But still, he's on the ballot. Taylor you maybe have a point with but in no way is Jimmy Smith even close to snubbed haha. He'll eventually get there but it'll be a while. TO not being in is positively stupid.

    And they’re snubbed too?

Doesn’t change the fact that Taylor and Smith are both top 20 all time at their positions. They’re not quite Moss, no, of course I don’t think that

I really do think Mark Brunell wasn’t ever actually good... and that we just had an inexplicably amazing combination of talent at WR, RB and on the line under Coughlin

If you watch old Jags games on YouTube it’s clear Brunell’s supporting cast was STACKED. Perfect pass blocking, receivers always open, Taylor ripping off 13, 18 yard runs on the regular, our backup RB and TE making plays, etc

We basically had everything the Rams GSOT offense had except a worse QB

Dude gets a crazy amount of targets.

Well no haha. There's a limited number of nominees. With two of the GOATs still not in the Hall, it doesn't make Smith a snub so much as it makes others undeserving. It also may just be Moss's first season of eligibility, idk.

    Not compared to others.

1st in receptions this year, 4th in targets
7th in receptions last year, 17th in targets
4th in receptions in 2015, 6th in targets
17th in receptions in 2014, 37th in targets

    Lets Go. Prestigious

    he had 160 targets

the 6 players with more first downs than him had 159, 162, 149, 176, 149, and 161 targets

so again, not sure what that stat even shows.

It shows the rate of failed receptions... e.g. catches that don't help the team. Its not shocking that Landry has a high catch% when he is making easy catches near the los.

Total stats aren't a real refutation of rate stats.

  22. CarpetElf

chorus's #3 oklahoma city comets fan Prestigious

No, but when the rate stats show failure in one very specific area, it makes his success look even better haha.

So he's not useful on third down? That means the receiver with the most receptions to start a career in history has only been available 2/3 of the time. That's more impressive than his third down rate is bad.

Compare first downs with argets, not receptions.

He has also been below average on first and second down.
