I guess I keep forgetting teams will pay big for Watkins. I mean, I like him. But he’s not worth a huge contract.

 

He will get 8-10AAV on the open market, easily.

Rams are gonna franchise him at 16+ though while they figure out a long term deal, he won’t be going anywhere.

 

Local radio was talking about it as final...its the only part of this deal that is really, really stupid.

The 3rd they are trading they functionally get back because they are losing Cousins to free agency. So its really Fulle for Smith, which isnt terrible...but, honestly, Id rather give up another draft pick than a young CB who's on his way to be, at worst, a solid #2 CB. Because even those guys are worht $8-9mil a year

Never understood what the Skins problem with signing Cousins to a long term deal was.

Then they sign Smith to a long term?

I just want no part of Cousins for the contract he's going to get. He's not a terrible QB by any means, he's average/above average. But is he REALLY worth 2-3x more than say, McCown from last year? Nah. He might get this Jets team an extra win or 2 but that's it. I would rather spend way less on QB when the outcome is going to be nearly the same. No matter who they bring in, they need to draft someone again because it's pretty clear that Hack is nowhere close to being a starter and Petty is also shit.

 

Kirk Cousins is a lot better than Josh McCown.

And the team has $100M in cap space plus a lot of premium draft picks. It won’t be the same team.

 

Is he really $20M+ better though? No matter what way you slice it, no.

 

They have the spend the money.

McCown hasn’t played a full season since I can remember and he’s almost 40. The offense was limited with him and it crumbled in the second half of almost every game.

That’s just how much the position is worth these days. Cousins will get a huge contract now but when all of the other QBs start getting paid, it won’t look like it.

 

He is obviously better than McCown i'm not denying that, just for the money I want to steer clear, even if they have plenty to spend. Oh well, Cousins is probably going to be either a Jet or Bronco so either way it sucks lmao

As for the whole, me wanting Alex Smith on the Jags... id have easily given up a third round pick.

If they want a corner, I’d maybe trade Aaron Colvin and draft his replacement, which is already a tough call we could make anyway to avoid paying 3 CBs high salaries. Small price to pay in comparison to having a QB that can make a contender better.

But paying Alex Smith 71 million guaranteed? LMFAO BITCH BYE, absolutely NOT
