Nevermind then. I just hope they gave up a nice piece from that defense plus whatever picks.

It'll depend heavily on the pick + player. If they got rid of a contract year guy and a mid-round pick, then this is solid for them. Probably Smith at another 4yr/$80mil type deal...compared to the, minimum, 5/125 that Kirk wanted

    lol

So they gave up a 2nd and maybe more when SF was Garop for a 2nd alone? lololol

Bunch of reasons why WAS couldnt make that deal during the season (wanting to resign cousins, creating QB controversy, etc). And no guarantee Garop was long-term like Smith is.

Not nearly as comical as trading a 1st and 4th for Sam Bradford

I am just having a hard time wrapping my head around Alex Smith being a long term guy at 34 years old for a team that doesn't really seem close to contention.

How much of an upgrade is Alex Smith over Kirk Cousins? Is he an upgrade?

Eagles just could never figure out Kirk for whatever reason so I'm glad he's gone.

oh my god hahaha 70M in guarantees?!?! That's the highest guaranteed QB deal in the league, I think.

Nope. But the theory was he'd come much cheaper
Not quite the highest guarantees (Andrew Luck got $87)...but that $23.5mil/yr is not great. Cousins is probably getting $26-27, so the savings isnt enough to trade a 3rd rounder and probably a player.

Seeing speculation that the player could be Ryan Kerrigan....they aren't that stupid, are they?

Man, Washington seems apathetic. Wonder what it'll take for them to Kerrigan.

No way. If they do that, burn them to the ground. It should be some borderline starter at best

  16. What a horrid trade by Washington lol

Id say this trade makes it really clear that Cousins told them he wasnt coming back. This seems aggressively stupid otherwise.
