    The rivalry is back on

I can’t really tell if I liked the job that Philbin did in IND. The line was bad, but the players were also bad and/or injured, for the most part. There were some positives, like that Castonzo got a whole lot better as the season went on.

seriously though, you lose a generational talent and draft another, then you drive him into the ground with shoulder issues

Idk I think that’s a lazy criticism of the Colts. For as bad of a GM as Grigson was, not (trying to) put Andrew Luck in the best position possible isn’t a fair criticism. They spent the most draft capital on offense of any team during Grigson’s regime, and signed free agent offensive linemen (who were supposed) to protect Luck.

It’s not (entirely) his/their fault that the 3 offensive linemen they invested most heavily in before his last year (Gosder Cherilus, Donald Thomas, Jack Mewhort) all battled injuries through their entire time with the team.

The better criticism of the Grigson regime is hiring and retaining a defensive minded head coach, drastically changing the defensive scheme (making most of their previous players worthless), investing a laughably small amount in the defense, and making no attempt to add players who fit that scheme.

you lost me when they knew he had issues for years and kept playing him anyway

i'm sorry man if you think it's ever okay to treat your QB like that...

and i know some shitty QB situations

edit: also, don't mind me, i don't know what to do with myself until tomorrow at 10 am
it's just that i would have done a lot of morally questionable things to have a qb like andy

I’m speculating in some places here but

    1) he missed half of the 2015 season and a few games in 2016 for injuries, both related and unrelated to the shoulder thing. I don’t think they are less fair about forcing their QB to play through injuries than any other team

    2) I can’t imagine Luck would have waited to get the surgery until the 2017 offseason if he thought it was going to be an issue in 2016. I don’t think it’s in anyone in that organization’s best interest to have a broken Andrew Luck, but it definitely isn’t in Andrew Luck’s best interest

    3) they didn’t force him back this season because there was recurring pain. Again, it’s in no one’s best interest to have a broken Luck.

I think it’s an unfortunate situation that ended up being the worst case scenario, but I don’t think it’s a gross organizational failure that it happened either

Colts are absolute shit. They have the worst roster in the NFL and I don't think it's even close haha

Don’t take that away from Cleveland

Regardless, they’re an Andrew Luck recovery away from 8 wins and a good offseason + getting Luck back away from the playoffs

Cleveland doesn't have the worst roster by any stretch! A good draft could bump them out of the bottom five too.

Idk, the gap between Cleveland and Houston (the next worst team) in ELO is roughly the same as the gap between Houston and Tennessee or Buffalo

Rams and Chargers will share a stadium? What happens if they both host conference championship games? They could work around the other playoff games but the conference title games are always same day. Would suck to have to have one Saturday and one Sunday.

@Randall Mentzos based on what I've seen on Twitter today, hooooooly shit there are a lot of Bills fans in Jacksonville this weekend. And many of them do not seem like the good kind of Bills fans. Keep your head on a swivel, we've got some real drunk assholes out there.

My god... if Jacksonville wins tomorrow that means 2 AFC South teams are in the divisional round. Which means, in a way, that 2 of the 4 final "best" AFC teams are from the fucking AFC South.

    Are you kidding me.

    Save us Buffalo.

Going forward I think that Andy Reid coached teams should have a different coach for the playoffs. Have Reid only coach the regular season. His teams would have won like, maybe 3-4 Super Bowls if he wasn't in charge in the playoffs.
