Just discussing something over at a Bills board and looking for Jags fans perspective.

Assuming Brick Bottles is gone, how would you feel about Tyrod Taylor being your starter next year? Personally I feel like it would be an excellent fit, but that's just me.

Truth

 

My take is based on a high level understanding of what the Jags are trying to do on offense. I have no idea if Marriage and Hackett have changed their philosophy at all since leaving Buffalo, but since it's Marrone, I doubt it.

I feel like with that defense and running game, they would really benefit from having a QB who takes care of the football (to a fault, really, but I digress.) Add in some of the wrinkles of the Roman/Lynn offense that benefit Tyrod, like some designed options with him and Fournette... And to quote Carl Weathers, baby you got a stew going

 

Yeah. Historically, the Jags have had the worst QB situation in the league.

I’m lukewarm on it. We have a lot of receiver talent and depth now, which makes me want to throw the ball more than a Tyrod offense likely would. With the improvement of Marqise Lee and the emergence of Keelan Cole... I want to see those guys and Robinson out there together with a QB who knows how to get the most of them.

Reducing turnovers certainly helps, and is a priority on a team that wants to live off running game and defense. But I have my worries about Fournette having too much wear and tear already from college to be leaned on 35 times a game. He’s had multiple nagging injuries this year which has forced us to pass more often to begin with.

It’s too bad that most Bortles improvement is a temporary facade and he keeps lapsing back to being a dumbass. Because when he’s having his good games, he is actually a good fit for Hackett’s offense himself.

I still rather sign Cousins (or Rodgers lmao) or draft somebody.

Guys I am about to buy a ticket to the playoff game. This makes moving back home to Jax for a few years, all worth it.

Hoping for Baltimore. We can confidently beat them. Wouldn’t be as confident against Kansas City.
