I also think that FSU gave him a huge bump and limited their search when they announced that they specifically wanted a minority coach for the position. That kind of official statement will inevitably lead a fanbase to feast on a particular coach by weeding out a large pool of other coaches.

i’ve said it before, but what mullen did at the worst job in the sec is more impressive than probably anything done by another P5 coach

I'm really getting sick of the cavalier attitude CFB coaches have in regard to the commitments they make when they sign a contract.
Don't try to sell me on your commitment to the program and sell recruits on "#themovement18" all season long when you know damn well you'll bolt, take all your verbal commits with you, and crater the team as soon as that dream job opens.

Meanwhile any player that signed a NLI is stuck at a program without a coach while you get a 5mm raise.

No school wants to pretend to care about that because they still want people to believe kids are just coming for the education and not to try to play in the pros

 

Well, he won't be able to match FSUs offer and Mullens has said they can only spend what they take in and attendance is dropping. He makes it sound like it's pretty dim. They're not making as much as they used to when they were winning and they don't have as many wealthy boosters as many other P5 schools. It's just not as good of a situation as you'd think. If a bigger, more wealthy school wants a guy, there's always a chance because the school can't afford to match their offer.

 

Newest rumor is that if Taggart bolts then Oregon turns to Sumlin.

Figured they'd give Cristobal or Leavitt a shot....wonder if they'd both take off with Taggart?

 

It's all a mystery at this point but they've done due diligence. Sumlin wants it but idk if they'd offer it to him and you don't know who would be in or out on the staff. It's a real bad year to need a HC.
