Honestly I don't think either Bama or OH deserve to be in but I'd much rather see a Bama vs Clemson three peat so I hope its them.

New Mexico State bowl elligble for the first time in 57 years but can only play Arizona Bowl (if invited) because they cant afford to play anywhere else?

well i recall hearing something a few years ago when UCONN was playing in the fiesta bowl and how that whole enterprise cost them a lot of money (because a school is required to buy a certain amount of tickets and when there arent enough students interested, the school loses money).

How many New Mexico State fans really want to spend the money to go to... the Alabama Bowl ya know.

The amount of revenue the whole bowl system generates, that doesn't seem right for them to allow. That's sad. Share the wealth better.

MAC teams almost always lose money going to bowl games. I remember WMU going to Texas to play rice maybe 10+ years ago and they lost like $500k or more IIRC.

 

Hence one of the main reasons they jump at the chance to get their asses kicked by power 5 teams.

I remember reading about college basketball Cinderella stories and how most of those schools almost damn near go belly up because they didn't expect or have the budget to make elite 8 / sweet 16 runs and the cost is crazy for them. That's why a lot of FBS and super low division 1 football schools play teams like Bama and Oklahoma and such and are fine getting crushed because that 500-750k pays for all their sports and provides an "emergency fund" for things.
