Definitely scared that Stidham gets all the early season Heisman hype (especially if we beat Clemson) and folds just like Jeremy Johnson, and I'll try all season to defend him only to be let down again.

Haha. Na. I prefer it when Bama hands it to their opponents without much drama.

That's pretty much how it's been the past five years or so. Actually, more like the past 8 seasons. I hate Bama being ranked #1 and having to fight off all these teams saving their best game of the season and ultimate gameplan just for them. I forget what it's like to have to climb up the rankings and pull off upsets. But oh well, I guess I shouldn't complain.

Rough life. "I hate when my team is No. 1 and the best college football dynasty in, perhaps, the history of the sport."

Right? You could be the only reason you said "perhaps" instead.

Alabama is probably the greatest dynasty in modern college football but the only reason I'd say "probably" is because of one Tom Osborne.

Ahh, gotcha. Yeah, there's arguments to be made. I think -- even as much as I argue it's the blue bloods and everyone else in college football -- we're in the era of the more parity ever. So, given that, I think Bama's dominance probably puts them over the edge of everyone else's eras of dominance. Though, it could be recency bias or the fact that I'm seeing it with my own eyes instead of having to read about it and whatnot.

I don't think this is going to happen.

    A. He played meaningful time in close games at Baylor as a true freshman. The only thing we knew about JJ was from crap teams, spring games, and one well planned out first half against Arkansas.

    B. Jeremy never beat out another competent QB. He didn't beat Nick Marshall because obviously Nick was better than him, and the only other QB competition he went through was against Sean White, who he beat out as a RS freshman. Stidham beat out a RS Junior Sean who, when healthy, is a dang good QB.

Poor Jeremy though. He just couldn't get rid of the deer in the headlights look when the lights came on. I don't see that happening to Stidham. He doesn't have to be the second coming of Cam, but if he's marginally better than Sean and stays healthy, Auburn's offense should be just fine.

named starter yet? Auburn had a WR/RB transfer over there, Stanton Truitt. I seem to remember hearing reports of him doing well.

Dang I remember seeing the report that he transferred, but forgot where he ended up.

Definitely agree with your post above about Stidham. I just am trying to be cautiously optimistic going into this season. We had it really going in the middle of the season last year. I just want to get back to that.

Happy to have someone else in here that I can pull for this team with haha.

Yeah man! I probably won't post here much on gameday, but if you want to see me rage tweet on gameday you can follow me @micahlong.

I think Auburn has all the tools to go all the way, but the schedule is brutal. 3 SEC road games in the middle of the season and the defending champs on the road is a hard task. they could be head and shoulders better than last year but still end up 9-3 because of the schedule. I'm cautiously optimistic, but the caution will stay there until I see what happens week 2 at Clemson.

Four more days....Go Dawgs. Please don't lose (or even let them be remotely competitive) to Rutgers.

A few media pundits out there saying that UW's secondary is going to be even better this year than it was last year despite losing three starters from the back end in the first two rounds of the NFL draft....I'm not sure about that but that'd surely be something.

Don't get me wrong, Clemson still has a ton of talent, but they lost so much. This year will be a true test for Dabo if they're able to reload like other blue bloods.

As of right now, I'm not really sold on Clemson being elite. I think a 9-3 season that all eyes will be on, but no one will really consider their record to be a disappointing season given their turnover.

Clemson's defense will still be ridiculous. They return all the defensive line, they lost boulware and one person in the secondary i think. Still have Renfrow and another WR (cant remember right now). They'll be good, and death valley at night that early in the season will be rowdy for sure.

I'm going with 10-2 (but 3rd in the SEC West because fuck Auburn) for LSU, 7-5 for Nebraska, and 7-5 for UCF.
