could the reason be that les is 14 years older than gundy? could that, idk, play a role here?

 

Yes, I don't really get the Les hate. Coaches would kill for that kind of success.

There was a report that Les had his agent reach out to Currie and Currie said no thanks.

 

Yep, most teams would rather have a younger guy nowadays

 

I'm not even talking about the Tennessee job in particular or why or why not Gundy is better. I'm just saying, Les isn't getting phone calls from anyone and he's let it be known he wants to coach again. I think it has more to do with philosophical stubbornness and the way he goes about x's and o's that keeps him out of a job, not so much his age.

 

he’s probably a top ten active coach. not coaching candidate. just coach. period. starting at 64 and having to build up a program, which will take two or three years, is a non-starter

 

The only way I'd see it happening is if there's a really good team that somehow loses its coach to his alma mater or something but can win a championship in the next two years.

Now that I said that, I'm sure he'd love ucf haha doubt they call

 

there are currently six pretty decent to really good coaches that are employed and are 62+. of them, two have started a new job since turning roughly 57/58. both of them had retired and decided to come back. they're bill snyder (same program) and butch davis (cusa). i doubt les comes back for anything less than p5, and a high-profile p5 team at that. it's not gonna happen.

 

I bet if Moos doesn't get Scott Frost, Les Miles will be a Husker.
