The thing is Rutgers was dogshit when he got there, he made them viable. Rutgers got into the big ten and started having NFL players because of him.

Tampa is another story. He overreached his power badly and ruined everything good he had with everyone because he has like a napoleon complex.

That Tennessee fans are only upset because their team chose a bad coach with a history of complicity to covering up child rape.

 

What? People are incredibly underwhelmed and thought they could get someone way better. If there was a better coach with a similar question I don't think the uproar would be nearly as loud.

The outrage began because they were hiring someone like..... schiano *makes grimacing face* not because they were hiring someone who might have witnessed what happened to kids at penn state. It got to that point but that wasn't everyone's immediate thought when they heard the name. If he didn't have the baggage you'd still have pissed off kids making a ruckus but for a different reason.

Most people didn’t know about his history at Penn St nor did they read that he knew about it. So coaching stats is all they had to go off of.

 

Shit it sounds like most OSU fans didn’t even know:

 

95% of the outrage I saw at the very beginning had to do with his linking to Penn St. Saw all his coaching stats afterwards.

Kinda says a lot about the permanency of rape/abuse culture when fans backlash against it and people still won’t accept it as the main reason.

 

Tbh I didn't even know about this until a week ago.

I thought he was just an asshole who was bad at his job haha.

 

Tbf, the friend I mentioned earlier was only upset at the Schiano hiring because it wasn’t who he wanted, and he was aware of the Sandusky link. Those people are out there. I think the fanbase as a collective group wanted him out because of the Sandusky link though.

Yeah I didn't know any of the Penn State stuff until it was mentioned in here this morning.

Good on UT fans to get this decision reversed.

Good on OSU fans who have learned of this today as well to ask for him to get the axe.

I kind of agree. My first reaction was "fuck OSU for keeping this piece of shit and fuck Meyer for not replacing him" but that's kind of foolish for me to think everyone else knew about something that I just learned about today. However, I find it hard to believe none of the coaches / faculty at OSU learned about what was released in 2016 before today which makes me still give the coaching staff (at least) shifty eyes.
