As a Florida state fan I'm trying to have realistic expectations. I think it'll be a good game with Alabama ultimately getting the W

He's good. I don't think he's good enough to beat Alabama right out of the gate though.

I mean, I saw some fsu games but hardly as many as the year before and he looked okay but not like special or anything. I guess that is an upgrade over McGuire though lol

Deondre Francois is a bit overrated right now in my opinion. He's young, so he obviously there's room for improvement but he'll have to take a big step forward this year for Florida State to have any kind of chance at an ACC title. He has very inconsistent mechanics (mainly footwork) which leads to some underwhelming accuracy.

Clemson is probably a few years away offensively from being ready to compete for a playoff spot again, but Virginia Tech and Louisville are going to be really strong in 2017.

The ACC is really up for grabs again.

I think Louisville is probably the favorite right now but their defense has to be better IMO. Can't have their qb put up 10tds and not stop anyone.

I went to the open practice yesterday at UW and came away even more confident in this defense despite the losses to the NFL as I said here a week or two ago. Byron Murphy is the real deal.

It's also nice because UW seems to be laying in the weeds again this year despite their playoff appearance...most are picking USC to win the Pac-12 while I've seen a healthy amount of outlets picking Stanford to win the Pac-12N over UW so this sets up well.

As an Auburn fan dating an alum of FSU, I will never root harder against Alabama in a non-Iron Bowl haha

I agree with this to an extent. He's got skills, there's no denying that. It doesn't hurt that Jimbo is basically a QB coach that just happens to be their head coach. Luckily our starting running back (who has some big shoes to fill since Cook left) is a monster. So, he will have that option as well.

Seems like he didn't have many amazing offers, I read that he chose them offer rice, Colorado, Tulsa and BYU.

I think if he commits to Colorado or a smaller school in a bigger division like the PAC 12 he's still not seen that way, which is weird but it seems like he wanted to stay in Texas and only had two offers. Texas football is stacked af and he just happened to fall through, I'm guessing.

Also could be that it appears that he was primarily recruited as a safety....a 3* one, at that.

I'm pretty sure he was two sport athlete (football and basketball) which is why he ended up at SMU. If I'm remembering correctly, Larry Brown had a lot to do with him choosing SMU.

Chad Morris showed up at just the right time though. I was honestly shocked when Kelly Bryant chose Clemson over SMU, but he got a ring out of it. Morris recruited the absolute shit out of Bryant for years. SMU would be better off with better quarterback play, but I think they'll take a serious jump forward in 2017.

What's scary is the fact that Sutton has basically dominated with inconsistent QB play there.

Ben Hicks is a name to know though. That kid can sling it. He might turn into a serious pro prospect.

Florida has been having some real bad issues with that lately. I guess they have a history of it in general.
