I would be shocked if Kyrie plays another minute for the Cavs. If this trade falls through, Suns and Bucks seem like likely Kyrie destinations.

Yea, this is the most pessimistic take I've ever seen, the Suns have been trying to get rid of him for the last two years for anything remotely close to value.

I guess we're just not going to see eye to eye on this one.

Bledsoe is still young, relatively talented and not on an unreasonable deal (about 2 yr/$30 mil remaining). I think that the Suns could get a better return for him than one year of an injured IT and a late first round pick.

    I guess we'll see

I don't think you have been paying attention to the Suns much, he's been injured for many games every year and they're trying to bottom out and getting a young core star player in the lottery, he hurts that when he is healthy. They pay him 15m a year to sit on the bench most games. It's not that they want IT but it's a way to get an expiring contract and use that money elsewhere to build around their young players, it's clear they want to get rid of their backcourt and start over with ulis or someone in the next draft. I don't think they've been offered much for him because of those things. I also don't think the cavs actually want him at all but just throwing that idea out there if all else fails really.

I suppose this particular instance isn't an indictment on them but in conjunction with all the other boneheaded stuff they've done this summer, nixing a trade of two stars due to a hip injury you well knew the other guy had looks pretty darn bad.

They probably knew there was something just from playing in the playoffs a few months back and from different conversations, but I highly doubt they knew how serious it was. Do you really think Boston was going around telling the league, that Thomas has a serious hip issue? That's absurd. This situation to this point says nothing bad about the FO's ability or inability to do the job. It would be more telling if they waived the physical to be quite honest.

With how much players across the league talk and how good of friends they are I find it hard to believe that Cleveland was completely in the dark to the extent of his injury.

That's why I said they probably knew there was a carryover situation from the playoffs and league execs talking trades and networking during the draft and summer leagues. It's the actual details and seriousness of the issue that is in question. How much is Cleveland or any team for that matter expected to know until you give them a physical? I'd equate it to the phone game where you hear a bunch of noise and the story probably changes depending on who you talk to. And certain people/sources probably are weighted a little higher than others.

    That's fair,
I suppose I'm more thinking about the optics of it all. After the Griffin thing, the Billups thing, Ky demanding a trade, and Bron allegedly wanting to leave, this trade getting axed would just kind of pile on to a summer of bad looks. And also I guess I mean the franchise as a whole rather than just the FO.
I amend my original post, I got into a couple beverages last night haha.

Middleton, Brogdan and a first is probably the next best trade to the Celtics one.

No worries haha. I don't think there is any getting around that in totality, this has been a rough summer for the Cavs FO. After the trade was initially consummated, there was a quote from someone in the FO that said it felt good to finally have something to smile about. So I completely get why people will look at this on the surface and question the Cavs.

I mean...they can ask for whoever they want but no way are Celtics doing that.

If Thomas is legitimately in worse shape than the Cavs thought/were led to believe I don't think that SOME additional compensation is unreasonable. But not Brown or Tatum. Maybe like a future second round pick or cash considerations or something.

    This is really weird.

This was all just to figure out that IT is done, they were never making the trade...

You'd think if the Celts come back and offer a future second or cash that the Cavs will just tell them to piss off and deal him somewhere else.

I have to think if the Cavs send Thomas back it won't be a huge deal for them. He's still gotta ball out he's in a contract year

I really have no idea. The 2018 Nets pick is likely the single best asset the Cavs could get back in a Kyrie deal.

The Cavs are probably just asking for guys they know are out of reach and hoping that the Celtics will counter with an additional draft pick or Rozier or something like that.

    Everything about this is crazy.

I guess it all depends on how hurt he really is. If he misses a big chunk of the season, their record will definitely suffer with their lack of point guard depth.

Won't be a huge deal for who? This would be detrimental for Boston if Cavs void the trade. Right after the trade happened, there were reports going out saying IT rubbed teammates the wrong way...to bring that guy back to your team and have to act like everything is fine again would be really bad. Not to mention, the guy obviously will miss a good chunk of the season so now you have no starting point guard at all AND you can't trade him any longer.

The Cavs could still find other suitors for Kyrie, or still hold out hope that they can salvage any relationship with him. But with or without Kyrie, Cavs are still winning the East and Boston was their only real threat and if trade falls through, Boston can forget about competing with Cavs.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ guess it's all contingent on how bad his injury is. I've read conflicting reports on his teammates saying things about him. If the injury is truly that bad, then the Celtics should and I think would sweeten the deal a bit. But I think if he's only out 1-2 months and can come back healthy the Celtics wouldn't be in that bad shape keeping him. I expect regardless of who he plays for next year, he's going to try and really ball out.

I got my dad a Steph Curry one and now that's all he posts on Facebook is Curry hanging out with him in weird places/his office/home.
