I was really thrown off by the trade, but, knowing we now have the opportunity to get a European who comes over in 2024, I'm really satisfied with this move.

This was the first post I saw after reading that Boston added a 2nd round pick and now all is well for the trade haha

Because, like we talked about. They chose to take IT with his degenerative hip issue for a year and the high pick instead of taking good players they could've kept longer. Anything could happen but to me it sounds like they're not sold he's staying.

Haha yeah but there's a big difference between "not sold he's staying" and "solidified he's gone"

I'm just not really sure how anyone can be so sure one way or another what he'll do, but I understand it's fun to predict stuff I guess

Boston was never going to relent Brown and Tatum because of the hip issue. Cleveland needed the trade as much as Boston did. I think only adding the second round pick makes that pretty clear. Time to move on.

I may have to start changing my stance on Markkanen. Dude just lit up against France in Eurobasket today. 22 points 7/12 from deep, with a lot of that coming in crunch time. I'm impressed.

I literally just would like him to succeed because he's Finnish and there haven't been any good players from there haha next draft will be fun as well, lots of good international players

I don't think offense is really going to be his problem. The defense and rebounding is probably going to be the main concern.

Yea, those concerns are still there, but I wasn't all that sold on the offensive side translating either. I'm not going to get too hyped on one game, but it was definitely nice to see.

Is Kyrie a Franchise Star? NBA Insiders Doubt Irving Worth What Celtics Paid

This is interesting. Kyrie is/was one of my all-time favorite Cavaliers but I honestly have no idea if he can carry a franchise. I do give him the benefit of the doubt when people point out his 4-23 record without LeBron over the past three years. I think that's more due to the fact that the Cavs were so heavily constructed to tailor to LeBron's game, that when he was off the court, the team just didn't know how to operate.

It's unfair to judge his first three years in the league because he was so young and the surrounding team was so bad.

I don't know if he is a guy now that can really turn around a franchise, I think he's lucky he's going to Boston with some other really good players and a great coach. I feel had he gone to the Knicks or the Suns, he wouldn't have really changed life in those organizations. Maybe a little better, but certainly not deep playoff contenders.

I also think it's telling that the Cavs couldn't really get any major offers for a 25-year-old superstar. As this article states, it seems the Cavs were higher on him than other teams in the league. I'm sure many other front offices were also a bit turned off by a guy who would rather be 'the guy' than compete for championships. His leadership skills are not great either, it's been well documented how he puts up a wall, can be very hot and cold, disassociates himself with teammates, etc.

I understand the concerns but I love the player and I think he'll do great things in Boston.

I cannot wait to get this season started and see how they do with Kyrie leading the show

No denying that they paid a huge price though
