    It's a made up tournament...sorry if I don't get excited about it

Personal opinion but I pretty much agree with @xbrokendownx that it is a pretty pointless tournament. It has no affect on the actual IIHF standings and the team makeup is weird especially when it comes to Team NA and team Europe.

However I will be watching just because I want to see the Sharks players always.

All tournaments and leagues were made up at one point...

  5. It's going to be fun to watch. Who cares how the teams are made up.

Only thing I find weird is that the NHL whines about players going to the Olympics but don't seem to mind this tournament. I know one is mid-season and the other is offseason, but the likelihood of injury is present in both.

World Cup is dumb as hell, a couple dudes are gonna get injured right before the season starts and it'll never happen again.

Jack Johnson and Justin Abdelkader making the US team over Faulk and Kessel is mind blowing.

How is it weird? I'm not exactly thrilled that Krejci will be playing, fresh off a surgery for an injury affecting his play for around two years now

The amount of players who suffer a serious injury is these tournaments is nowhere near the level people who use it as a hypothetical reason to dismiss the tournament make it out to be.

It's weird to me because I can't fathom why anyone wouldn't be excited about seeing the best players in the world compete against each other. I'm not saying you have to look the other way if one of your guys does happen to get injured, but this is a sport we love being played at the absolute highest level. What exactly isn't to like?

The NHL doesnt mind because they're the ones running it. Honestly I don't care about this tournament either.

I don't care about international hockey in general, sans the Olympics, so that coupled with the fact that we already have an annual international tournament and the totally unnecessary injury risk right before the season starts makes this objectively the worst idea in the history of sports.

Team USA is run by Lombardi, Holmgren and Burke with Torts as the coach. It's no wonder it's so poorly constructed.

Stamkos says he intends on staying in Tampa.

After seeing what they did without him, its hard to seeing him ever wanting to go anywhere else. Hope they work something out soon.

It's hard to see Tampa paying him what he wants too. Didn't he already reject 8y/68m? 'Cause given his declining production and his brand spankin' new medical condition, I can't imagine many teams being comfortable giving him much more than that.

Is there a better way to post a gif than to put it as an attachment? There must certainly be!

I'm going to sound like a bitter dude and I realize it's the SCF but it's insane how bad the market is for Sharks tickets compared to Penguins.

Just a general check and you could get cheap seats in Pittsburgh for around $300 however cheap seats in SJ are around $750-$800. I was willing to spend like around $250-$300 but no way am I going to spend that much. The funny thing is the Sharks keep emailing me saying there are still tickets available on ticketmaster when there are none at all.
