At that point, was only arguing that offside is a rule in 2 other sports played in NA. If they wanted to challenge offside in soccer, fine. In regards to football, well that entire sport is about splitting hairs and is constantly stopped to do so. Examples: out of bounds, catches or incomplete (football moves), fumbles, the QBs arm going forward, the football breaking the plane of the end zone, first downs, the knee touching or not, I could go on forever.

In hockey, its really only offside, and goals.

Why would anyone not want that? Seriously how does the inclusion of people fucking up the rules in any way enhance the product?

It's always fun to see certain cities media after a terrible signing try to defend said signing with really awful excuses.

All this talk of the NHL needing more goals in the game to enhance their product, yet they implement a rule that deliberately stops the game to decide on a goal bases upon a borderline offsides/lack of offsides call. These reviews don't enhance the product. They're more likely to confuse the new consumer than they are to promote the league as a sport they should support.

 

Goal scoring can be increased league wide without people fucking up the rules. And I don't find "new fans might be (extremely momentarily) confused, so just let these people fuck up the rules" to be a compelling argument.

That's all even assuming offside challenges are in fact a significant contributor to decreased goal-scoring or mass fan confusion in the first place, which I doubt it is.

 

I kinda hate the challenge but am cracking up thinking if it was reversed yesterday and the Pens goal was taken away everyone in here would looooooooove the challenge.

 

Yup if the roles had been reversed and the Pens had a goal taken away I would be totally ok with it but since it happened against my team I've got no problem stating the rule is dumb, the refs are dumb poopy heads and it was all part of a conspiracy cooked up by Bettman and the league to make sure Crosby and the Pens get a Game 7.

 

The opinions would definietly be different if it was the other way around haha. Im not a penguins fan, and I thought the call was correct

C’Mon Ref: Disallowed goal, missed power play

not only was the goal reversed, but the refs missed a penalty on Murray that play.

Once Drouin was found to be offside and his apparent goal disallowed, Murray should have been assessed a minor penalty for throwing his goal stick from within his defending zone. The Tampa Bay Lightning were entitled to a power-play opportunity on this unusual turn of events.
