Maybe my favorite stat from last night:

 

Glad Desmond seems to be getting it together now, not that i was necessarily worried after 3 weeks but still he looks much better than he did.

This Rangers rotation is better than I was expecting out of Spring Training, Love it! Also love that we are basically using small ball and timely hitting to win games, definitely didn't expect to see that.

In short, I love this Rangers team and they are exceeding my already high expectations.

Curt Schilling is awful. I can't believe he was hired in the first place.

 

Schilling is a gased up, bloated asshole.

 

He definitely has that "dad's alcoholic coworker that makes everyone super uncomfortable at the company picnic" archetype down solid.

 

starting pitching is already killing my Astros buzz this early in the season

plus the bottom of the order is putrid right now, Castro and Gomez mainly

Yeah I just explained to my gf how awesome of a pitcher he was and how great of a year that was. It seems to have this amazing competitive drive in sports it sometimes results in a weird social demeanor

Also, they just said Hank Conger threw out 1 of 43 base stealers last year. How do you even stay a catcher with that rate??

 

Hitting against him has to be one of the scariest things to do in baseball right now. You might as well bring a paper towel roll to hit with.

 

Yeah him and Miller are just ridiculous. Can't wait for Chapman to get here.

Why The Rays Traded For A Catcher Who Can’t Throw

Essentially, throwing out runners isn't super important and is more on the pitcher than the catcher. Sabermetrics has concluded that blocking and framing pitches are really important, which Conger does well at. Plus, he's a decent hitting catcher.

It's kind of like Jon Lester: he can't throw to first (or any base), but he does everything else well enough to counteract it and picking runners off just isn't that important relative to everything else.

 

Lol god no! Not Stephen Drew. He was and still is awful. Torreyes needs to be full time or we need to fast track/convert one of our many infield prospects.
