Anyone starting a fantasy baseball thread soon? Time to start stressing over who I'm going to keep...

I've been in the same keeper league since 2007 and think I'm finally going to bow out this year. My keepers have been insane. I had a real good run but it's just nowhere near as entertaining or competitive as fantasy football for me and the money isn't as high as I'd like it to be so there's not much incentive to say in anymore.

third year in a keeper and won the regular season both times, finals both times, championship once. my core is fucking nuts (Bryant, Rizzo, Betts, Lindor, Sale, Bumgarner). Unfortunately with the rising costs, i may have to relinquish my beast reliable pitchers. Or one of the cubbies (i really dont want to but Rizzo is starting to cost a fortune)

I co-manage an AL-only keeper team. We do an auction draft with a standard cap and keepers cost $6 on top of their previous year's price every year. We have done two seasons after taking over someone else's roster. We've been just outside of the playoffs both years, but feel good about our direction. We went with the tear down approach in year one and got close to making the playoffs. Last year we stayed pretty flat due to some injuries and losing Cespedes to the NL. We have some interesting choices to make in the next month or so.

I did a draft in some random ESPN league when I was like 13 and promptly forgot about it afterwards. I bet fantasy baseball is really fun and I'd love it, but I've never had a group to do it with nor do I know anything about the structure, though I'm sure it's not that complicated.

Fantasy baseball is such a commitment because of how long it lasts. Luckily, this league is fairly lean in terms of scoring categories (4x4) and I co-manage with a teacher who has summers off. And with 10 teams and only half the league to account for, you either have good players or you are looking for potential. Losing Cespedes was a huge blow for us last year. That said, there are things I miss about more conventional leagues.

i never understood the AL/NL only leagues? Like, why limit yourself to half the league?

Also, what happens when players get traded? (<- real question)

it's my favorite fantasy game out of the sports, I recommend it.

I'm in an old AP league, I think we'll have a new spot this year. I'm also willing to join a new league too but it's hard to find free dynasty leagues, dynasty leagues in general are more rare. I've been rebuilding my team for like three years, I feel like I should be able to compete by next year.

The reasoning is to make it more challenging, use players that may not otherwise get used, and to do something different. I'm not entirely sure, the league I'm in is not people I know besides my teammate and one other guy.

The way our league works is if a player on your team leaves for the NL in free agency, than you lose the player and gain the cap space for the auction. If a player gets traded AL to NL during the season, you can keep them on your team for the remainder of the season. A player going from NL to AL in free agency, they get added to auction draft pool. If it's NL to AL during the season than he stays unavailable until the auction draft.

It's kind of funny when I first posted that prospect list, the first thing I loooked for was the Astros prospects.

I'm just really excited for the Grizzlies season.

I looked at the Indians prospects vs Cubs prospects. As expected, the Cubs edged us out, but it is closer than it used to be with the Cubs calling folks up and making trades.
