I keep thinking Jason Hammel signed with the Astros and keep being surprised that he hasn't and wondering why I think he did.

 

I didn't think so. I don't know if they'll ever get what they would want for him.

 

Yea, just every year will be like "these guys are available..." but no trades lol I think they have to trade oddirizi or cobb this year though.

 

That's still a pretty great haul for Archer though. Not sure they'd get much more now at this point.

 

I think they'll hold him to the deadline... again. They did a good job with Matt Moore last year then. The only way they have a great failure is if archer falls off a cliff completely, which I think he's trending back to two years ago rather.

 

Yeah trading him in the off-season seems silly, they should hold off til when someone thinks they're that one piece away at a trade deadline.

 

I got my weekly "Dodgers are favorite for Dozier" notification front the Score app so that is always fun.

 

Dodgers have a ton of good tradeable pieces, still trying to "scrounge together" a trade. -every trade rumor

 

I'll make two comments pertaining to the Archer thing.

1. Even though they are top prospects there is no guarantee they pan out. Archer is a known quantity.
2. People have done analysis and you can actually get a better haul in the offseason so if they want to move him nows the time. I think they didn't generate as much interest as they wanted though.

 

Agreed. I think they likely turned it down expecting a bidding war of sorts and clearly that hasn't happened

 

I feel like they're praying the dodgers finally pull the trigger after negotiating with them for so long lol

Also lol at brandon Phillips perennially screwing the reds by refusing to be traded no matter where it is.

 

Maybe they are screwing him by trading him and this is his way of having control over his career.

Yeah the BP situation seems like he doesn't necessarily care WHERE he plays it's about other issues at play and things that the Reds didn't do when they said they would, plus other issues

 

I will never hate on a player for using his EARNED leverage to stay in one place. Bench him and pay him if you don't want him on the field.

 

Yeah me either. It seems to just be expected they'll waive it. No problem with Lucroy when he said "nah, I don't wanna go to Cleveland" either last year.

 

The only thing I dont like is that they're willing to trade him to a contender and hes like nope. I get that you want to stay there because of family and what not but idk. I really just find it funny how badly the reds want him out and how much he could care less if they win 0 games between him and votto and falsely thinking they'll be good before they retire.

 

Dude gave the Reds the best years of an incredible career on some pretty bad teams. He's earned the right to stay there if he likes it in Cincinnati.

 

Are the Braves considered a contender now?

 

No but if he won't go to the nats I don't think he'd go anywhere

I hope they are at least fun to watch this year. The last two seasons have been miserable.
