News on once the clouds are gone. Prestigious

On an assumption, probably because they assume he would just be a DH for them.

What a great night this turned into. Sign Edwin and the Jackets roll up the Penguins. This is great.

I will feel a lot better when we don't re-sign Santana next off-season knowing we have a walking 30-40 HR guy posted in our lineup.

I am just trying to set my expectations low. I'd rather be pleasantly surprised than letdown. I am doing the same thing with Brantley and his rehab haha.

that's a solid solid signing for the indians.

As an Indians fan, I'm STUNNED they were able to pull this off. Hopefully EE lives up to the hype (ahem, swisher and Bourn).

If Brantley and the pitching can stay healthy, look out MLB.

I don't know if EE will live up to the hype, but he's on another level offensively from Swisher and Bourn. I have no idea how he was available for so long this offseason. Baseball is weird.

Kind of a multitude of issues really. His asking price was high from the get go, the new CBA, the fact that there are a lot of 1B/DH types out there(albeit not as good), etc.

I'm just glad he didn't go to A's or Astros that way we don't have to get lit up by him 18X a year

I'm glad he left the AL East lol

I mean the concerns with a long term contract with EE are understandable. But on a pure hitting basis? You do not want to see him up in a big spot.

Is Brian Bilek anybody on Twitter? I don't have a Twitter but he's posting a rumor of Quintana to the Pirates, McCutchen to the Yankees, and prospects including Rutherford and Andujar from the Yanks to the White Sox and this guy/rumor better be nothing cause I feel violently ill.

See nothing on traderumors or anywhere so seems questionable. And makes zero sense.

I don't think it's true no reporter I've seen has said anything about this

That's what I thought. And it makes no sense. We have two aging declining outfielders, why would Cashman add a third and trade Rutherford, the best hitter from last year's draft and Andujar when 3b is a liability lol. Seemed like bullshit considering Cashman's trades the last few years. I know people in here are pretty familiar with the legit sources.

2016 the year of fake news lol

Like you, I also don't have twitter but check MLBtraderumors pretty much constantly and have found out that pretty much if it's not on there it's not true lol.

Some writers to keep tabs on and check their Twitter feeds regularly would be Ken Rosenthal, Jon Heyman, Joel Sherman, Jon Morosi, etc. those guys are usually on top of everything

I agree he's far better offensively than those two, but my point was, their careers literally died within 2 years of signing big contracts. It wasn't even a slow decline, it was like they could literally no longer play baseball.

EE's age scares me, but obviously he's coming off a superstar year (several years really) and the price tag was far less than we all imagined so even if he starts to flame out a little, it won't be a huge disappointment.

He's been really durable and if he mostly dhs he should hold up pretty well. If they didn't pick up the option, 3 for 65 is a pretty good deal I think.

I love Napoli, but if he, Gomez and Cashner are our main signings this off-season then I can't see us winning the division. Wouldn't be surprised to see a mid-season rebuild if we're a few games out of it.

I think that's likely it for FA signings but I could still see a big trade going down

I'm as frustrated by Buchholz as any Bostonian but I hate them giving him away as a salary dump. Have we not learned by now that starting pitching depth is essential after year upon year of injuries and scrambling?

Dude's good for 6-10 outstanding starts a season. Which every year we have to scramble to find on June and July. Throw in a pretty modest contract and him being one of the 10 longest tenured athletes in the city and it sucks to just see him given away for nothing
