  1. I agree. It's not the greatest deal for the Nats but they didn't get totally screwed over. Relatively reasonable overpay

WAR attempts to measure what happened, not who's more talented. A less talented player can have a more productive season. And it's not like Eaton's a slouch.

Chapman turned down 87 from Miami. Tells you all you need to know about their management.

I'm not talking about who's more talented, what happened was Seager and Rizzo had MVP caliber seasons, Eaton had a nice year. Not saying Eaton sucks or anything. He's a nice player. It's just imperfect is all. I know defense is important, but does it weight that too much? Not like Seager and Rizzo are slouches defensively, the impact that those two have in a lineup, it's crazy to me there's one all encompassing stat that can conclude Eaton was the better pick to have on your team over either of those two. I know there's plenty of other metrics to measure players by but WAR is the big one now.

I feel like it's more likely that machado is a Yankee for sure just because the Orioles are cheap as hell, nats could probably give him ridiculous money if they want but he may not take it if the Yankees can match it but it's still a chance to retain him.

  9. Love Koji to the Cubs. You'll love him and he'll love you. Wonder if Ross had anything to do with that

You're less confident in defensive metrics than offensive metrics. I get it. You're right to be. But your lack of confidence in Eaton's defense (and thus overall value) doesn't mean he wasn't that valuable.

Sometimes guys hit a lot of home runs, or post a crazy batting average. Sometimes they save a lot of defensive runs.

Apparently they were willing to give opt outs after years 1 and 2 but no no-trade clause(as is policy). Seems like he wanted the no-trade clause and just really liked it in NY

    The rivalry is back on

Thatd be fine if owners were also paying for their own stadiums, rather than passing a lot of the burden off on taxpayers in the name of "economic development and tourist traffic". If you're gonna do that, I'd hope that at the very least, you'd go above and beyond to put together a team that's going to maximize the value to the taxpayers as well, rather than just pocketing profits.

Per Heyman and one of the STL beat writers, it sounds like the Cards went over the top for Fowler. Curious what the deal is.

    Edit:

  21. I read Fowler doesn't wanna play for that "culture" lmao

Oh the irony if Fowler goes to the Cards and Heyward racks up a monster year in 2017.

But really I will miss Fowler. Strikes out too much for my liking as a leadoff man, but he does serious damage when he gets on base.

He had the lead-off HR against us in game 7, but I never really feared him in the series. I felt like the Cleveland pitchers handled him well for the most part. And watching mostly AL baseball I probably don't appreciate what he actually brings during a season.

There was a streak he was on during the 1st half of the season where he was seemingly on base every other at bat, especially his first at bat of the game. Too lazy too dig up the stats for it, but he was a integral part of giving us so many early leads.

I was hoping he'd go to Toronto. I hope he gets fuck you money and has a blast in Saint Louis
