Oh he for sure will - He's not going to hit for average like he used to but his power is still there. Hopefully DHing will keep him healthy. You'll love him.

I was watching Moneyball last night just because it's such a great movie.

It made me also want to look more into analytics side during the offseason. Is there any good starter books on analytics I can look for?

I'll come up with a list for you later

Also Baseball Prospectus, Fangraphs, and Beyond the Box Score are 3 good sites with an analytical bent.

Effectively Wild is a great podcast to get into as well. They go into advanced stats sometimes when exploring topics and questions.

Not sure if you're on twitter, but there's a lot of good people to follow who tweet about baseball and analytics. I could make a list, if interested.

3 years, 48 million for Rich Hill. I hope he stays healthy and kills it.

Great move for SF. They overpayed, but it had to happen. I'm excited that they have a legit closer.

Before I forget read 'The Only Rule Is It Has To Work'. The EW guys run an independent league team using Saber principles. Honesty it's a great book. I haven't read anything so fast in a long time.

I'll have to add that to the list. I'm currently just reading the Best Team Money Can Buy and I should be starting Moneyball by the end of the week.

Will be interesting to see what Jansen and Chapman get. They're all different pitchers in regards to stuff, but in regards to outcomes there's not a ton separating them. Will Chapman get 100M just because he can pump 103? Will Jansen get 100M because his cutter is wicked?

I see Chapman getting 100 mil plus with the Yankees and Jansen at 70-80 mil most likely with the Dodgers.

Since Hill is off the table, I could see the Yankees going over 100 mil now. Going into the offseason I thought they'd get a DH, Hill and TRY to get Chapman. Holliday was relatively cheap, there's not another starter worth throwing decent money at and now they can go all in on him.

If the Yankees sign Chapman to 20m per year like... That'll be crazy. I mean someone's gonna do it but for a rebuilding team, gonna be harder to justify.

I think if anyone went above 100, have to think it would be cause a sixth year. I can't imagine a closer getting 20 mil a year from anyone. I don't think there's enough teams seriously looking at Chapman to drive it that high, or are there? And he's purely a thrower, as soon as his velocity dips he'll be in trouble.

I dont think anyone knows where it'll go yet, obviously the agent wants the most he can possibly get so it might take some time but that's a lotttt for a closer for sure. It helps that hes young but you never know when it could hit, its an impossible science still.

Even 15.5 for Melancon seems like a lot to me, but think how big a difference would that have made for the Giants if he was there last year haha.
