I am happy for Rick Porcello. We exchanged pleasantries once in Pittsburgh. Justin Verlander was better than him this year.

  4. Imo porcello shouldve been unanimous Cy and MVP

    So happy for Trout!

Mike Trout was the reason I was as interested as I was in baseball from 2012-2014 while the Cubs were unwatchable. It's such a pleasure to watch Trout play.

    Mike Trout's career:
2012 - AL Rookie of the Year, 2nd in MVP voting
    2013 - 2nd in MVP voting
    2014 - AL MVP
    2015 - 2nd in MVP voting
    2016 - AL MVP

Once Porcello won Cy Young basically just off wins, I thought Betts would win for sure.

My panties get wet when I hear about the Braves getting serious and trying to acquire Chris Sale.

I don't think they should. They are still at least 2 years from being serious contenders and no need to deplete the farm for today.

Out with Castro/Rasmus and in with McCann/Reddick

I'm good with that, now go get me an ace, Luhnow

The BBWAA Hall of Fame ballot was announced on Monday with Manny Ramirez, Vladimir Guerrero and Ivan Rodriguez headlining the 19 new additions.

Vlad easily gets in I think. Manny definitely linked to PEDs here and there, so could be in doubt. Unsure if Pudge was but by the end of his career he got less pudgey and much slimmer.

I think Pudge will get in. The media always gave him a pass and seemed to like him. He was linked to PED's but there was never damning evidence. One of those cases where there was quite a bit of smoke, but never a fire. I know he was mentioned as using them in Canseco's book.

I don't think Manny will get in if Clemens and the rest of the users don't get in. I am kind of done with preventing some of these guys from getting in. I am more than ok with the strict testing and sanctions for people who test positive now. It just seems lame to me. Regardless of what the Hall says, Clemens, Bonds, Sosa, McGwire, etc. are all over the game's history and record books. Pretending it didn't happen is a bit odd to me.

Sad part is that even without roids Clemens and Bonds easily would have gotten in if they decided to end their careers in 2000 or so. It's the Bonds record breaking HR barrage and Clemens' microscopic ERA in his early 40's that made it obvious.

9 of the 19 newly eligible are former Sox, most from our World Series teams. Damn. Nostalgia year for sure.

That's the thing, most of these guys were caught later in their careers and have worthy resumes up to the point where they got pinched. Now, we can reasonably deduce most were likely using, but most in that era were and there is only accusations. If people want to add an asterisk or have an additional area that covers the PED's, that's fine. But, pretending some of the best players didn't happen just doesn't make sense to me. I don't really care much for the HOF, though. There are plenty of tools and resources to learn the history of the game and determine who were the game's best. I have only gone to the football Hall once and I am about an hour away.

I feel these guys will all get in eventually, the PED guys. At some point they'll just accept that era, asterisks or whatever they decide to do. Until then, no chance Manny gets in. His career ended pretty embarassingly.
