If that's consistently his move I don't know how it's never been called lol.

 

That's bonkers to me. A good pickoff move puts doubt in a runners mind with subtle deceit. That whole delivery is a lie that puts the runners at an unfair disadvantage. I've seen balks called on far more legitimate pick off moves for a long time, often to the point where I don't know what the umps are looking for anymore. But that was a bad no call.

 

Is that the same move as the one in the video in this article? They look very similar to me.

Urias shows poise beyond his years

 

Yeah, but it's the second move after Villar is ruled safe by the challenge that seems like a balk by the books. All props to him for finding that middle line and using it advantageously. It is just weird and inconsistently called. Just like with anything else in baseball that takes place from the mound to the box though.
