One of my favorite Yankees ever, would still make the trade every time. This team going on a World Series run if they get the wild card and if they get in the proper playoffs? Nope. They definitely have a shot to bring him back for when they're in a position to actually seriously contend again though.

On nearly any given night, the difference between any top of the line closer and a normal reliever is negligible.

Time to dream about Sanchez and Bird hitting 3rd and 4th for a full year and hopefully Judge sliding into that 5th spot. And it would be nice to do something really radical and just hit Didi and Castro 1st and 2nd. I like Ellsbury and Gardner well enough, but I'd like them a lot better as 8 and 9 hitters. If they're not going to run, what's the point.

Cleveland's rotation continues to disintegrate as the playoffs loom. Carrasco got hit in his throwing hand after two pitches and left the game.

 

Sigh.

 

If it does end up being serious, at least we're in a pretty comfortable spot to make the playoffs. After that just let the small sample size madness run wild. It's not like the Royals had a good playoff rotation. And we didn't get it done with CC and Fausto.

 

Sucks. Was hoping Rangers would play CLE at full health and beat them and not 2nd/3rd string guys.
