It's a bad time to be a Pirates fan right now, slow burial

Division wrapped up, yes. But Indians are only 2 games back in the loss column (and Toronto only 3) for best record in the AL with 30 games to go. Far from wrapped up.

This better not mean the end of Effectively Wild

I was bummed when Up & In ended because Kevin Goldstein and Jason Parks got jobs with MLB teams (Cubs, Astros). I'll be even more bummed if Effectively Wild ends. It's been such a staple in my life for the last however many years.

    Hopefully they address it soonish.

  5. Ya that Russell play is nice, but it's not this

Worth reading if you never have or haven't in years. A profile of Mike Trout in his rookie year. It's incredible in retrospect.

Didn't say Best record WAS wrapped up... Said it was likely even if they played .500 baseball the rest of the way that they still could lock up best record in AL.

Either way we'll see how the rest of the season goes

Right, but for you to say that it's 'likely' that Rangers would clinch AL by just playing .500 baseball is a bold statement because Indians could easily play 2 games over .500 the rest of the year, or the Blue Jays could play 3 games over .500. Best record in the AL is still up for grabs, imo.

No knock against CLE or TOR it was more just a statement at how well positioned we are for the rest of the season is all. I fully expect us to play better than .500 baseball and am just excited as a Rangers fan who is glad to see how good this team truly is.

ESPN didn't stand in the way of Ben being on EW when he was with Grantland, so maybe not....

I feel like Grantland was this far out thing and Bill Simmons probably fought to let Ben stay on that to keep him happy. I don't feel like Sam will have the same back up but this is all my pure speculation.

Listened to the intro to today's epi. They talk about it. They expect to continue as of right now, but it's up in the air. Wonder if Sam will still have time.

To be fair, he was hitting roughly .333 in his return from being benched before today.

The combination of Hendricks, Lester, and Arietta (possibly in that order??) in the playoffs is going to be straight dastardly.

I think Atlanta is trying to turn the corner in 2017. This move would be pointless.

There's no risk involved in a Tebow deal if he goes to the minors, and whatever affiliate he lands with will inevitably sell a ton of tickets. I have no problem with it.
