@domotime2 Can you explain again why Murphy over Bryant or Seager? I don't particularly understand the reason of Bryant and Rizzo splitting votes. Maybe I'm giving voters too much credit (probably -- Mike Trout should have at least 3 MVPs already), but I can't imagine how a voter would look at Bryant and Rizzo and decide that Rizzo should get a first place vote over Bryant. And especially with the weighting of votes, it just seems so unlikely. It's not like the presidential election where a vote for Stein is taking a vote away from Clinton. Voters get to rank their ballots.

Murphy has been so good at the plate, but so awful in the field that it really brings him down. Bryant has been at least an equal hitter, but a way better fielder and fantastic on the base paths. Same story when compared to Rizzo.

If the season ended today, it should be a 1 & 2 finish between Bryant and Seager.

I'm rooting for Betts for MVP personally.

Here's what I look for in an MVP. Great numbers obviously (including basic stats, Sabermetrics, defense etc) but also I'm big on the concept of "take him off the team and what does the team look like". The fact that Bryant has a top 5 offensive MVP counterpart...idk...if Bryant wasnt on this team is don't think the Cubs would be too much worse. Plus the Cubs have like 4 starters in the top 15 Cy young consideration. Now his numbers are definitely great and I understand why someone would have him win but for me Daniel Murphy has carried that team for most of the yesr. Harper is not having a good year and the rest of the team is doing decent don't get me wrong, but nothing compared to what Bryant has.

Tare Murphy off the team I'm not sure the Nats have the overwhelming success they have.

That's why I love seager too...and why in the AL I don't love Betts as much.

I hate that logic. By definition, the most valuable player is the one who produces the most value. That doesn't change based on who fills out the team around him. If a team has 5 top tier guys, and one of them has the best season in baseball, he's the most valuable player.

Pedro Baez just took 30 minutes to get through five batters. The last at bat with Bryant took around 7 minutes.

That felt like so dang long.

How much value for you think Bryant has though? Where would the Cubs be if he were not in the lineup? Unless you want to make this the WAR award

Vins thoughts on Baez pitching is the best:

I think what's often missed about Bryant is how great his defensive flexibility has been for the Cubs. He's played 3B, LF, CF, RF, 1B, and SS (an inning at short), and he does it well. Along with that, his defensive flexibility allows the Cubs to move him around in order to best utilize Baez, Soler, Zobrist, and Heyward. If Bryant was solely a 3B, then Baez would've most likely seen less playing time. I don't think it's easy to really quantify the value his flexibility gives the Cubs, but it's real and should be considered.

Plus, the Nationals have an 8 game lead on the Marlins and 10 game lead on the Mets. Without Murphy, they'd very likely still be in first place, as would the Cubs without Bryant, so it's hard for me to really buy the whole "Murphy has been so much more valuable for the Nats than the Bryant has been to the Cubs" argument.

I just think it's nonsensical to argue that because one team is worse, a lesser player deserves the MVP over a better player on a better team.

I think the Nationals would be way worse off without Murphy than the Cubs without Bryant. Revere has been garbage and there was the stretch where Harper wouldn't see a pitch cause Zimmerman was garbage too. And obviously Harper was not Harper for a couple months til the last week or so.

Now that being said I'd give it to Bryant lol. Both first place teams and I haven't really looked deep at their stats (being a Yankees fan I don't catch a ton about the NL) but isn't batting average really the only place you'd take Murphy?

Four Tigers have been ejected tonight in three separate instances. This ump needs to relax. Especially since the gripes with his calls are 98% legitimate.

Freddie Freeman is quietly having a great season. It's incredible considering how bad of a start he got off to and the dumpster fire of a lineup the Braves had most of the year.

It's not nonsensical. The idea is that Murphy has meant more to his team than Bryant has to his. In my eyes...that means value.

it hurts so much especially with how Reddick has been awful in this slump and I'd take Puig over Kike Hernandez any day.

I'm a little surprised, but also not that surprised, at how many teams are at least interested in Tebow's showcase tomorrow.

Do you think Tebow is prepared to receive a minor league offer to play? Like do you think he understands that he will be making peanuts. I feel like some team is going to just give him a contract for single A at the minimum. Do you think he would accept. /ramble

0 teams have shone interest in my showcase this weekend, but I'm assuming they're just playing hard to get.

Out of 1128 throws to second base from catcher this season (I think that was the number) Gary Sanchez has 5 of the 10 hardest throws.

I think most teams are just interested to see if he can ACTUALLY play baseball. I see maybe signing a minor deal with an AL team

At worst I bet the Bridgeport Bluefish would give him a shot. They love to be gimmicky with bringing in people to manage for the day. So why not Tebow to play lol.

If he shows the slightest amount of potential I feel like some team is going to take a chance just because of how cheap he could be to potentially sign. I just don't see Tebow taking the pay cut necessary to be a minor league player. That I will find hilarious.
