    The rivalry is back on

Maybe I've just forgotten, but this seems like a ton of mid season retirements this year!

I'm not too upset even though I really like Fielder. Sad to see him go like this though.

Wonder if we'll recoup any money?

Fielder is probably one of my favorite players ever, sad to see him go. Loved him early on in his career especially. Bummer he couldn't at least get one more HR to pass his daddio.

A-Rod signed on to the Yanks as an advisor. I would think that once he signs a contract to work for the Yankees it wont allow him to sign to another team and continue playing.

Really sad that Prince had to go out like this. His weight was always used against him and they said his legs would never hold up, and in reality it ends up being neck issues that derailed him and had him retire early. Sad to see him go out this way.

Prince seemed like an all around solid guy. Really sucks for him, I enjoyed his time in Detroit, Kinsler trade/laughable base running and all. He was a fun player.

Sounds like Rangers are only on hook for $9MM a year

Highly double he will be a bust but yes, of course. Especially in baseball where 23rd round picks can become stars.

Seems like a weird situation b/w La Stella and the Cubs

Definitely. I've appreciated how the front office seems to be letting him deal with whatever he's dealing. Sounds like he might consider retiring.

But the decision to demote him at all is baffling.

Doubtful* I'm guessing. I mean you still think so? Buxton hasn't shown anything yet. I mean literally nothing. I'm not saying give up on the guy but obviously the twins can't be too excited these days

    BOO

He had options and Cogs didn't. Sucks, but that's what happens. He would be back up next month when rosters expand. What a weird situation.

Baseball is so weird, Buxton has shown nothing and Max Kepler comes out of nowhere. And he looked good when I saw him against the Yankees way before that 3 homer game.

I understand the logic behind the move, but don't agree with it ultimately. As much as I like Cogs, I'd rather have LaStella. Plus, could've DFA'd Joe Nathan earlier.

Hope we keep on rolling, though! 8 straight wins B-)

Yeah, I definitely agree, but I trust Theo and Co. always at this point. I'm sure they would've DFA'd Nathan if they knew Tommy was going to do this instead of just going down until the expansion. uuuggghhhh. Oh well. I hope he figures things out and it all works.

Little late here but super bummed to hear about Fielder. Dude was so fun to watch, a true shame that his career ended on this note.

I feel bad for what Girardi is having to put up with right now. A-Rod has been vilified forever but all of a sudden it's nothing but poor A-Rod from the media. Fenway is chanting "We want A-Rod", number one: they probably want him in there to boo him. I seriously can't imagine him getting much positive reaction. Number two: there was nobody in there, even Hicks, that I would've wanted A-Rod to bat for. He's gonna catch up to Kimbrel's 98 mph? Like literally maybe 5% chance even with how wild he was. He's already a historically bad pinch hitter, as rarely as he does it.

It's the Yankees fault for letting this drag out, but A-Rod can't hit period. Do I expect them to make the playoffs? Absolutely not. But crazier things have happened and you can't put A-Rod out there. They don't have the 09 championship without him, so no matter what I think he deserves Thurs and Fri. Hell, they left Jeter in the 2 spot all season his last year and you can't tell me that didn't cost them the playoffs.

Sorry for the rant. I'm just especially sick of hearing Michael Kay scream about it every damn day.

Buxton is 22 years old, far from a bust. He also has been up and down countless times the past two years. The Twins havent been doing him any favors by constantly moving him whenever he struggles/heats up. When he is 26 and still hitting .200 in the majors then yeah call him a bust, but not all prospects come up hitting like Correa did. Not every prospect is Trout and Harper at age 20.
