Always sad to see the good ones say goodbye, but happy that he's doing what he wants and will get to hang out with his kids more. That being said, I won't miss Teixeira hitting go ahead homers off of Rays pitchers.

Teixeira's a great guy. If he stayed healthy he'd be in the HOF discussion. One of the best defensive first basemen (Headley would've had 40 errors last year if not for Mark) and nobody would guess he averaged 153 games a year for his first 9 seasons based on the last 5 years. Had to be so frustrating the last few years for him. It was great to see him having fun in the Mets game the other night. Glad he was part of a championship.

Trout cycle tracker: HR/3b after three innings.

Tim got designated for today. A 9 era won't save you a roster spot no matter what your resume is.

    Dodgers win, Giants win.

    Dodgers lose, Giants lose.

They will be stuck at 2 games behind forever.

Fucking sucks for Nick Castellanos to suffer a fractured hand in the middle of his best season. Fuck. Just as JD Martinez was coming back. Casey McGehee is being called up.

fuck it, pick up A-Rod if he leaves the Yankees

Didn't think he'd be done midseason. Thought it was gonna be at the end of the season

I like how A Rod bucked the trend of the year long retirement party, he knew he didnt have it in him anymore, and instead of just taking up a spot he steps aside. I am sure he is getting paid to step away and leave money on the contract, but it is a welcome breath of fresh air from the Jeter/Rivera/Ortiz retirements that are coming so popular. A Rod was one of the best players of the game and I am sad to see him step away.

woke up i'm in the in-between honey

Gonna go to ARod's last game. I just like the guy a lot and what a career he's had. He's polarizing for sure, but he's a lot of fun to cheer for. And he just loves baseball.

Also, it may be the first game of one of my fave Giants, Matt Duffy, at shortstop for the Rays. Still can't believe he's not a Giant anymore!

Back in the winter of 04 I sent around 15 players a card asking to be signed and included a SASE. Only two players responded Jim Thome and A-Rod. Thome sent a different card signed and a typed form letter, A Rod sent the card back signed and a signed 5x7. I was already a huge A Rod fan by that time, and Thome played for my favorite team so I was excited that those were the two that at least sent something back.

It was so depressing when Jeter was leaving and it was like "great, lose Jeter and get A-Rod back" but you could tell getting suspended knocked some humility into him. I wanted no part of him pre-suspension but I wouldn't mind if he became hitting coach at some point or something. He'll be a great instructor for the prospects we have coming up.

Sidenote, I thought they traded Soriano because they knew they had Robinson Cano coming up. In that trade, apparently Cano was on a list of players that the Rangers could choose from and they took Joaquin Arias.

Favorite arod moment ever was the blue Jay's game when he yelled "ahhhhh" when the guy tried to catch a pop up and dropped it.

Inciarte is an absolute stud out there in CF. I hate that he has no power at the plate though. Interested to see if the Braves move him this offseason for a power bat or they stick with him. I like watching him play.

Not surprised Thome sent something back but I'm glad Arod did. Many probably would think he wouldn't bother with that type of stuff.

My dad did something similar after my brother attended one of Jeter's camps at Hofstra. Sent a photo of the 2 and a letter. Got the photo sent back, signed and a letter thanking him for attending.
