Be sure to drink your Ovaltine.

Boone would fit well with Ravech and Kurkjian. He genuinely enjoys it without being obnoxious with the analysis. Sadly he's paired with that turd Berman tonight.

I love how each year they show highlights from past Derbies. I could watch Griffey hit the warehouse in Camden Yards all day.

Yeah I usually like Boone. The Sunday Night broadcasts have gotten pretty cheezy with the batting stance impressions and cartoons but he'd be good with those two.

I like the idea of letting whatever stadiums hometown team get to be the announcer for the derby/game

I haven't read much (anything, really) about there being a verifiable HRD curse, but I have a hard time imagining that one would really exist. Like, nearly every day dudes in BP are trying to put on a show. I can't imagine this would really be that different.

Stanton was a hoot to watch, though. What a performance!

I think it's more for guys that aren't big HR hitters. They literally change their approach to how they are hitting he ball that it has the potential like a lot of things do to mess up their mechanics. I think the other thing is players get a lot more tired in the second half now that amphetamines are banned and the general public hasn't really associated that with decline in production.

Also I hate Chris Berman. He knows nothing of baseball. Just the only guy that's stuck around ESPN since the beginning of time so they let him do whatever he wants.

I cringe at nothing more than when someone says something and then he uses it as the setup to his home run call ugh. He's just the absolute laziest.

I really want to know if there's any data to pinpoint any signs that participating in the HRD truly does mess players up.

Also, how much of production being down (is it down? home runs are way, way, way up -- but of course HRs are not the only means of production) is driven by a fundamental change in approach (who cares about average and strike outs, let's just hit dingers) as well as more and more pitchers throwing harder and harder and not because of players being tired in the second half? It was the second half last year when we started seeing the massive increase in home runs that we're continuing to see this season.

We saw a massive increase in home runs but scoring did not go up. I think that's more of an approach thing. Sort of the whole if Ichiro wanted to he could hit a ton of HRs but then his average and OBP would go down and that's not his goal.
