    The rivalry is back on

Both the St Lucia and Joy Formidable albums are great. You're in for a treat!

I feel the same way as you are saying. Lists are great to see what your taste of music is now and it's a great tool to come back to at the end of the year, to see if your list hasn't changed. So far it has been a great year for music. If I have to put them in a list, I would give them following order.

    1. Blink 182 - California
    2. Hands Like Houses - Dissonants
    3. Beartooth - Aggressive
    4. Simple Plan - Taking One For The Team
    5. Trash Boat - Nothing I Write You, Can Change What You've Been Trough
    6. Saosin - Along The Shadow
    7. Ignite - A War Against You
    8. As It Is - Never Happy, Ever After deluxe edition
    9. With Confidence - Better Weather
    10. I See Stars - Treehouse

Haven't been able to check a few albums out like the new Thrice album and the new Red Hot Chili Peppers album.

For the second half of 2016 I have some albums already, that I can't wait to hear.

    1. Yellowcard - Self Titled ( I feel sad that this will be their last album)
    2. A Day To Remember - Bad Vibrations
    3. Sum 41 - 13 Voices
    4. Good Charlotte - Youth Authority
    5. Bad Omens - Self Titled
    6. The Amity Affliction - This Could Be Heartbreak
    7. Greenday? *
    8. Jimmy Eat World? *
    9. Paramore? *

    * Not sure if these bands will release a new album this year or next year?

That Hotelier album had to be the biggest disappointment of the year so far to me. It's just so slow and uninteresting, and their lyrics have never really been their strong suit. (Similar to Joyce Manor - the lyrics are "cryptic" only because of how badly written they are yet they seem to think they come off poetic). Combined with an abysmal cover, I feel as though they felt they think they are better than they actually are and can get away with ambitious attempts at something different. I've actually lost respect for them and listening to the new one makes me enjoy the last one less. What a steaming pile of pretentious garbage. In my opinion, of course.

I couldn't enjoy the new Weezer album, either.

    Best of the year:
    Mean Jeans
    Audio Visceral
    Future of the Left
    Big Ups
Direct Hit! (Nothing they do will be as good as Brainless God)

I couldn't agree more, such generic lyrics... I mean so many bands are writing Taoist records these days. Also hate how they are able to connect the struggle of being in your 20s and gaining and losing love works within their Taoist belief system. Just so unoriginal..

Also that last record didn't make a whole lot of sense either..why write songs about serious issues such as mental health that can really help people.

I've heard like 140 new releases this year and still feel hopelessly out of the loop looking at these lists. Sigh.
