How is nobody talking about the new Direct Hit! album? That record is so freaking good. That and the new Endless Mike and the Beagle Club (St. Paul, another insanely good album) are my picks for albums of the year so far. New Blink is a banger too.
I really cannot believe Standards made only 1 staff or mod list. That's criminal. Here's my list: 1-3 are basically interchangeable, as are 4-5, and then 6-10. 1. The Dirty Nil- Higher Power 2. Into It Over It- Standards 3. PUP- The Dream is Over 4. Pinegrove- Cardinal 5. The Hotelier- Goodness 6. O'Brother- Endless Light 7. Hands Like Houses- Dissonants 8. Thrice- TBEITBN 9. Hail the Sun- Culture Scars 10- TIE: Saosin- Along the Shadow/ Gates- Parallel Lives/Diarrhea Planet- Turn to Gold The latter 3 could easily change out with everything from 6-10.
standards is good but not amazing or anything like it's one of the better "chorus" records but like there's been so much good to come out this year, a lot more ridiculous misses than that

Haven't put much thought into this at all so far as I wait until December. But I love the idea of already coming up with stuff because usually when December comes around I see everyone's lists and there's a ton of stuff I've never heard of. For example I'm going to listen to Pup since so many people put it in their lists. Here are the albums I've listened to a lot so far in 2016: Brian Fallon - Painkillers Cassino - Bottlenecker Run River North - Drinking From a Salt Pond Tokyo Police Club - Melon Collie and the Infinite Radness Part 1 Gregory Alan Isakov - Colorado Symphony Kevin Devine - Live at St. Pancras Old Church Albums that are shit and were a huge letdown: M83 Say Anything Bloc Party

Here are my top 5: 1 / I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it by The 1975 2 / Not to Disappear by Daughter 3 / Death of a Bachelor by Panic! At The Disco 4 / Love You To Death by Tegan and Sara 5 / Junk by M83 - Unfortunately, this probably isn't too accurate because I'm so behind on music right now. Still haven't listened to new St. Lucia, DIIV, The Joy Formidable, or Explosions In The Sky. I'll get to it eventually ha. For the rest of the year I'm really looking forward to the new Two Door Cinema Club album and maybe new Now, Now, The xx, or Paramore if they're out by the end of the year.
My list is almost identical to the one I posted earlier, but 1) Daughter - Not To Disappear 2) James Blake - The Colour in Anything 3) Sturgill Simpson - A Sailor's Guide To Earth 4) St Lucia - Matter 5) Aurora - All My Demons Treating Me As A Friend 6) Highasakite - Camp Echo 7) Chairlift - Moth 8) White Lung - Paradise 9) The 1975 - I like it when you sleep... 10) Kings Kaleidoscope - Beyond Control The order is pretty fluid. I really enjoy all of them, but I doubt I've heard my AOTY yet.
