They were great. Played kind of a standard set for them but they always put on an awesome show. I'll probably never get tired of seeing them. The fact that they posed at the same time as Thursday was a huge bummer.

    2. Creeper at Camden Underworld
    3. Dance Gavin Dance at Camden Underworld
    4. Against Me! at Electric Ballroom

I go to a lot of shows, so I could easily do a longer list, but these are the ones that really stick out to me so I kept it short.

Next Show - Foals April 22nd

Almost done my shows for the year, I still have Dillinger on Sunday though and I expect that to leave a lasting impression. I will have done 30 this year, counting festivals as 1 even though they were multiday events. I didn't spend too much time nitpicking over spots but overall it was a fantastic year for shows. Here's where I'm at as of now.

    Redwing91007 saw 29 concerts in 2016. | Concert Archives

What was everyone's worst show of the year? I didn't go to as many shows this year, so I lacked any real bad ones, but I'd love to hear your all's take.

Next Show - Foals April 22nd

Great question, and a tough one. Went to go look through my list and be honest most of them were pretty damn good. The two that stood out for me as "not as good" were Heavy Montreal and blessthefall / Miss May I / Obey The Brave / Sirens and Sailors. Heavy was still good but just a disappointment compared to years past. BTF came at a time where I was a little burnt out on shows and I found myself bored most of the night.

Overall, it was a damn good year for shows if those are the only issues I could find haha.

Curious to see what other people will come up with.

worst show was probably taking back sunday. tidal wave front to back just a week after they released it was.....sloppy and unexciting. the back half of the set was fun though.

    music is all we got

Like you I didn't go to enough shows to have seen any really bad ones but TSSF played such a terrible set at Self Help. I'm biased against that band anyway but dang are they bad live. Also all the openers on The Summer Set's Stories for Monday tour were awful. The good definitely outweighed the bad this year, though!

  18. Behind the Barricade

Lenny Kravitz opening for Guns n Roses. He played about 6 songs in an hour set and just had unnecessary jam sessions on every song. It just felt like it went for hours.

Here are some sets that I thought where really bad:

    Bone Thugs 'N Harmony | 5.2 | The Q - Quicken Loans Arena | Cleveland, OH
    Rock On The Range 2016 – Day 3 | Death From Above 1979 | 5.22 | Mapfre Stadium | Columbus, O
Catch Meaning Music Fest 2016 | A$AP Ferg x Tory Lanez | 5.28 | Jacobs Pavilion At Nautica | Cleveland, OH
Taste of Chaos 2016 | Saosin | 6.12 | Jacobs Pavilion at Nautica | Cleveland, OH
G-Eazy / Logic | Summer Never Ends Tour | 7.27 | Blossom Music Center | Cuyahoga Falls, OH
The All-American Rejects | California Summer Tour | 8.9 | Blossom Music Center | Cuyahoga Falls, OH
Sole Collective | 8.10 | Jacobs Pavilion At Nautica | Cleveland, OH
Kevin Gates | The High Road Tour | 8.14 | Blossom Music Center | Cuyahoga Falls, OH
Hank Williams, Jr. | 8.19 | Blossom Music Center | Cuyahoga Falls, OH

The bold means they are the two worst. Lol. I saw some sets that where bad this year but this list takes the cake.

Taking Back Sunday at the Riot Fest aftershow was probably the most underwhelming show of the year for me. The crowd was completely confused and out of it for the whole first set because no one knew they where playing a 10 hour old record in its entirety. But the second set was good times.

Really the only bad set I saw this year was:

Do have to add River Oaks show last night to one of my tops.

A few of my favorites from this year. Don't think I've left out anything important.

    1. Coheed & Cambria/Glassjaw/I The Mighty -
    2/26 - Chicago IL - Aragon Ballroom
Aragon isn't my favorite place in the world because of how big it is, but Coheed are my favorite band, and they sound good anywhere. Getting to see Glassjaw finally was a treat as well.

    2. Into It. Over It./TWIABP/The Sidekicks/Pinegrove - 4/29 - Chicago IL - Lincoln Hall
On the flip side, Lincoln Hall is my favorite venue in Chicago. I am not a TWIABP fan in the slightest, so their set was a major drag, but IIOI were so great and tight as usual. Couldn't be more excited to see them play PROPER in full in a couple weeks. Pinegrove were phenomenal as well, of course.

    3. The Dear Hunter/O'Brother/Rare Futures - 5/28 - Dekalb IL - The House Cafe
Made the 2 hour drive with a few friends to see these guys for the first time at this tiny ass place in DeKalb and they did not disappoint. Rare Futures were great, became an instant fan. O'Brother was probably the closest I've been to experiencing the brown note. TDH were fantastic, super tight, and the vibe/banter was so fun. One of the better shows of the year for sure.

    4. Thrice/La Dispute/Gates - 6/23 - Chicago IL - House of Blues
Somehow managed to sneak into the front row after like half the front row left following La Dispute's set, which I totally didn't get. Anyways, this was my first Thrice experience and I couldn't have been more impressed. Set was fantastic and Dustin sounded great. The end of The Earth Will Shake was spinebusting. Probably should have made the drive to see them in Milwaukee a few months later. Gates were great too, La Dispute were exciting but again not really my thing.

    5. Acceptance/The Spill Canvas - 7/23 - Chicago IL - Metro
Wanted to see Acceptance since they reunited, glad they came back around. Kinda wish they had played In The Cold, as they played the rest of Phantoms, but I can't complain too much haha. The Spill Canvas were fun too, they started right when the doors opened so for the first few songs it was me and like 10 people up front.

    6. Envy on the Coast/Night Verses
    - 8/27 - Chicago IL - Bottom Lounge
Came mainly for Night Verses, who released my favorite album of the year the month prior. They killed it and I got to talk to Doug after the set, who is now firmly the 2nd nicest band guy I've ever met. EOTC were killer as well, obviously.

    7. Taking Back Sunday - 9/16 - Chicago IL - Metro
Crowd was understandably a bit sleepy as they went through Tidal Wave in full, but of course, the switch flipped as soon as they started Cute Without the E. Just a good time

    8. The Dear Hunter/Eisley/Gavin Castleton - 9/21 - Chicago IL - Metro
Had to go see em again after they were so great the first time. Casey blew out his voice the night before so I was a bit worried how the show would go (as was he) but he sounded great and the crowd couldn't have been more supportive/helpful. Set was a little shorter but no one minded, played a ton of good stuff from the new album as well.

    9. Rx Bandits/And So I Watch You From Afar
    - 10/5 - Chicago IL - Bottom Lounge
I've been trying to see this band for so damn long now, so even better I got to see them play my favorite album of theirs in full. A little disappointed it was without 2 original members but the replacements were rock solid and the songs were classics of course.

    10. Coheed & Cambria/Saves the Day/Polyphia - 10/8 - Grand Rapids, MI - The Orbit Room
Me and a buddy made the 3.5 hour drive to Grand Rapids since this was a weekend show and I will go an embarrassingly far distance to see Coheed play. As usual, they were phenomenal.... wish I could say the same for Saves the Day.

    11. Emarosa/Anarbor/Cold Collective - 11/19 - Chicago, IL - Beat Kitchen
This might end up being my favorite show of the year, Bradley is the most energetic frontman I've ever seen (granted, haven't seen letlive yet). Getting to scream the lyrics of "One Car Garage" in his face after he entered the crowd for the first of many, many times was a highlight for me.

    She haunts the roads

Honestly, the only act I was truly disappointed by this past year was Glassjaw. I bought tickets for the Coheed & Cambria tour that spring specifically to see them. Worship & Tribute is one of my ATF's.

Part of it is that I got there late and missed them play "Tip Your Bartender" and most of "Mu Empire," which are two of my favorite songs, but even of the songs they played, Daryl cut the racetrack announcer part from "Gillette Cavalcade" and the speak/scream part from "Two Tabs." I get that he's older that most scene singers at this point and has a history of health issues, but still - those elements are HUGE parts of those songs' appeal, and to cut them out seems really dumb (to me.)

But really, the biggest thing to me was just that Daryl lacked any sort of stage presence. He simply looked like he did not want to be there. Again, I know he's older and has health issues, but he hardly moved around the stage at all, just basically rocked back and forth almost the entire time. Flat vocal delivery. I was expecting to lose my mind when they busted out "New White Extremity," but that was one of the lowest points in a low energy set.

Only part of the set that was memorable was during the final song a fan climbed on top of a tower of amps and then stripped naked before falling off and being dragged away by security.

Coheed & Cambria kicked ass, surprising no one.

My favorites of the year in no particular order

Warped Tour (saw Sum 41, New Found Glory, Less Than Jake, Reel Big Fish, Every Time I Die, State Champs, Cane Hill, Teenage Bottlerocket, Masked Intruder, Palaye Royale, Sleeping With Sirens, and parts of Coldrain, Tonight Alive, Chelsea Grin, and Whitechapel)

Outlaw Music Fest with Neil Young, Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crow, Lee Ann Womack, Lukas Nelson, and Chris Robinson Brotherhood

    The Wonder Years/Letlive./Tiny Moving Parts/Microwave

    Whitechapel/Fit For A King/The Plot In You/Enterprise Earth/Rivers Of Nihil

    Weezer/Panic At The Disco/AWOLNation/Andrew McMahon

I can't say anybody really disappointed me. Chelsea Grin was pretty damn boring at Warped, but that's about it.

oh my god, I'm back on my bullshit Prestigious

My worst show of the year was Modern Baseball at Kamio. The band did play well as usual, but the show was so unenjoybable due to the venue being absolutely dreadful in every possible way. It was so bloody hot in there that everyone was literally just standing still, and I hope that the band know that it was because it was 1000000 degrees and not because they were bad.
