October was always going to be weak compared to September, which was probably the best month for new music all year. That said, the Hiss Golden Messenger and Solange albums hit me out of nowhere, as I'd never really connected with their work before. Noah Gundersen put out some truly great rock singles with his Young in the City project, and I'd probably re-rank my first impressions of Conor Oberst's Ruminations at ++ if I did re-rankings. Biggest disappointment of the month was clearly Lady Gaga. Man, that album is ill-conceived. Want to give more listens to Dan Layus and Lambchop for sure.
